Glad you two did this together! You both have so much wisdom and understanding from your experiences to share. I've been a subscriber since you both started and I get Dan's reports on where I want to go. Retired 6 months now, donated all my belongings (don't need them anymore). I also get Dan's reports as a lifetime member too. Paul has some of the most heart felt videos that have had such an impact on me. I've spent 3 years preparing myself by getting into the best physical shape possible to be ready for my journey. Retired at 62 and 6 months on my journey already in Mexico. I'm in Queretaro which is in Dan's top 5. It belongs in the top 5! I'm following your advise and finding such great places in the Centro area. You can definitely live here very well under $1500 per month as Dan has shown me how it was possible! Almost tempted to c'mon over to where your at now instead of another 6 months on this side. Please follow both of these great gents of our time. you won't regret it!

Perhaps the most important element in a successful life in the Philippines, is to be lucky in love. That, and a partner who is faithful, honest and financially responsible, with some skills and income stream of her own. It’s a big ask to get all the above, and in my 25 years of experience of the Philippines, very few get it right.

Retired Air Force Officer here, was stationed in the Philippines, been back to visit many times since the 1980's. Here's the deal - the Philippines has it's benefits, however, it also has many, many drawbacks. If money is not an issue (like for myself), then America offers so many more benefits over living in the Philippines. If a man is on a social security budget, then the Philippines is a good choice. I'm in my 60's, love to kayak, play pickleball, bike ride, jet ski, fish around Florida, and live without "brownouts". I like dealing with people in America vs dealing with the Philippine people in the Philippines, because it's often some kind of excuse for something, or it takes forever to get things done and nobody seems to be responsible. The Philippines has unsafe roads, too much diesel smoke pollution, dirt everywhere, and a government that just isn't on top of things. Living in the Philippines ..... well, you just have to accept the way things are over there. Life in America can be fantastic if money is not an issue, and I'm not rich, just comfortable enough with a little extra each month. But, I will say, that perhaps the biggest benefit to living in the Philippines is, if you are a single man, meeting a nice young gal there is quite easy. And, I believe that most western men know that the Philippines is relatively cheap and one of the best countries worldwide to meet a nice young gal to date or have a relationship with, and older western men can easily date gals 30 or 40 years their junior. That's quite a big attraction for many men worldwide! Best of Luck!

Infrastructure in Philippines now is a lot better.Even in the provinces. So many major roads projects big and small.Diesel pollution is a lot lesser now in major cities. But if really want to get away from don’t stay in major cities.Stay in the province in Visayas and Mindanao.Where fresh air is guaranteed.

Finally! Someone with a brain! Yes, aside from the health care issue, the Philippines can sometimes be a logical choice for those forced to live on a cheap-charlie Social Security only budget. With some cultural adaptation and acceptance that they won't be living a Western lifestyle, it's possible to live modestly on a Social Security check in the Philippines and have a live-in companion. Living on a Social Security check in the U.S. means poverty, reliance on government programs, and loneliness. The problem with old-age companionship in the Philippines, is the myth that these young Filipinas love old men. They don't! It's a biological impossibility. The world over, young attractive people are attracted to other young attractive people. No young woman wants to take care of an old man. Extreme age-gap relationships are based on survival and convenience. They always involve a desperately poor Filipina and a gullible self-deluded old man who was spurred-on by these snake oil peddling vloggers like Paul. And this lovely young Filipina usually comes carrying utang na loob (an obligation to support family). Due to this, most expat retirees will crash and burn and return to the states within 5 years. Many will return due to medical issues they are not financially equipped to pay for out of pocket.

I like the diversity and differences of the Philippines, that to me is the advantage ,when you are not on the day to day treâdmill and have many choices for entertainment and fresh foods at affordable prices. The weather is big plus also where I am from we get subzero temperatures with limited sunshine for months. The people of the philippines are also inviting and kind who will share there lives also.

Watching Paul and the other Duma dogs’ inspired me to spend time in the Philippines, which I have. I’ve spent most of my time in Iloilo City and Boracay. Although, I would want to return at some time and see more of the country. I’ve followed Dan and have a eaten at some of his and Qungs’ favorite restaurants across Mexico. Currently I am in Thailand on Phuket exploring the island and other nearby places. I want to thank you both for helping inspire myself and others to see there is more than we were conditioned to become. God, willing I’d love to meet you both someday.

Paul, I totally agree with your outlook on material things in life. Many people today would have been in a much better financial state if they didn’t concern themselves with material things. I learned that later in life; but thankfully it’s not too late for me.

What a 'character' Paul is ! - - Been following his "stuff" for a few years now and he makes it interesting all the time. The kind of person I could be friends with for certain. His life gives inspiration to many guys (perhaps some gals) who maybe can relate to life's challenges and one mans solution to those challenges. His open honest sincere approach is very refreshing these days given all the 'alternatives' out there !?! --- Good job Dan.

Paul awesome, thank you for the interview. I'm somewhat of a minimalist. At 55 I retired early with a small pension from the US Gov. I'm 58 now and will collect SSI at 62. Great advice. I been going back and fourth from the carribean and Asia. Changed my western lifestyle, started to healthy, dropped weight and lowered my stress by 90% , started studying Buddhism and ready for a permanent move to Asia ( Asia is where my heart is). All I need as a master level educator and social worker, is to add value to my community through service, a 1 or two bedroom condo or small house , TV and Internet access (and a puppy⤠) and I'm good
