Paul Pogba’s career could be all but over if his 4 year ban is upheld. The French midfielder tested positive for a banned substance in September of 2023, and on February 29th, it was announced that he would be handed a 4 year ban as he was deemed to have taken the substance intentionally. He will contest this at the Court of Arbitration of Sport to see if he can get his ban reduced.

A few years ago I would have been indifferent, but at this point I can't help but feel bad for Pogba. His club career has gone down the drain since the moment he left Juventus the first time. From the injuries, to his brother's betrayal, to the insane media scrutiny in England. And now there's a conspiracy in Italy that Pogba was set up by Juve themselves to get him off of their payroll, the guy just can't get out of the news. I wish him all the best in his post football career. He won a world cup but I can't help but think of what he could have been. To this day I believe the only other club he should've gone to is Real Madrid; something tells me his career would have played out much differently

I think its his pathological desire for attention contribute so much in his downfall. At United he posted haircuts and dancing while his performance is poor (poor is a nice way to put it). United execs clearly love it and when Mourinho called it out, Mourinho got thrown under the bus. And this desire manifested HARD with his documentary. I'll stop here but hope my point get across.

Never rated him as high as some but recognized his value more than others. Pogba made memories, and he had flamboyant hair. We can all agree Paul seems, in a certain sense, to be typical for modern professional sports stars.

Sad to see him retire like this (probably) especially considering issues with his friends and family, but it is what is. Using a banned substance is always a bad idea.

He's 30 now. He's gonna be 34 or 35 when the ban is over or around there depending on the result of the appeal. Best case scenario if the appeal goes through even a 1-2 year ban is bad for him. If and when he comes back I think he's gonna play in Saudi or MLS. He already has a home in the US and his partner wanted to move back to the US permanently. And Saudi is the other option because he was already linked with a move there before the ban and he is a Muslim and the Saudi league might still think they can benefit a bit from the star potential he still has(that goes as well for MLS). Any chance of top European football is over for him essentially. As a Juve fan I had hope that a return to Juve would rekindle his form from his first stint with us but injuries and drama derailed that quickly. I feel sorry for him as I have a soft spot in my heart for him but he hasn't help his cause and has brought some of these things on himself.

If beckham keeps trying to get top names at inter Miami I can see him going there in 3-4 years. I’ve seen some videos say Some players are already regretting their moves to Saudi and apparently they aren’t getting paid their wages. I don’t know if that’s just the smaller Arab players or the star signings but unless he literally just wants a huge money grab to leave football with I don’t see him going Saudi, it depends who else they get in the next few years it could be another Chinese league situation. But I don’t see why any below top 4 team from any of the top leagues wouldn’t take him it’d be worth the chance aslong as he doesn’t come back demanding ridiculous wages

I really like your work. While I am not, half of our family is from Portugal and theres a real sentiment to support Benfica, who have multiple supporters clubs where I'm from in the states. Despite possessing the talent needed to be great, his mentality never allowed him to even get close. Had he focused or cared more about his football and his well paying clubs, things might've ended differently. Unfortunately, constant injuries, a nonchalant attitude with a hint of laziness, and a narcissist need for attention with his hair and dancing taking center stage instead of his football is why despite getting multiple chances through MU's manager's revolving door he could never show the commitment, or true desire to change things around for himself. Karma never forgets!

The fact it is 4 years tells me they have considerable reason to believe it was deliberate. Even other players who admitted it was deliberate previously didn't get the full 4 year ban.

I have no problem with professional athletes using steroids. The demands they put on their bodies, the way they're treated if they fail or out of form due to injuries or personal issues and the small window period they're able to make big time money /contracts . Steroids can have dentimental long term effects on health much more than just doing things normally, having a competitive war on that is going to amplify it. Also plenty of pro atheletes can do what they do WITHOUT relying on such drugs. Is it hard? Yes but that's why they're admired.
