paul potts sings for the queen royal variety performance liverpool empire the winner of britain's got talent high Quality Video Paul Potts won a TV compitition called Britian has got talent, and the first prize was to perform in front of the Queen of England, at the royal variety performance, that is held once a year (yes the Queen was present)

Paul Potts did something no singer of greater talent ever did. He allowed the "every man" to experience the passion and power of opera. I continue to be blown away even after watching/listening to his version of Nessun Dorma 50 times. It is freaking amazing. I am grateful to him for allowing me to experience this over the past 5 years. I never get tired of it. Thanks a lot, Paul

To know that he was bullied and that he decided to go against the odds of getting a chance to show his talent, is just a beautiful way to tell every single person out there who is being bullied that we are all shining diamonds. Only rare beautiful ones need time and effort to become the one piece that every one wish to have.

Another extraordinary voice from Wales... It's in the water I'm betting. They seem to grow beautifully in those green green valleys. Music is like breathing for the Welsh and it's part of their souls... god bless 'em.

Paul has been criticized as not being a true opera singer because he doesn't do operas. The truth of the matter is that most opera music (as is true with all other types of music) is crap. Paul just sings the greatest songs from opera, which are indeed great. That's what makes him so listenable. No one wants to hear most opera songs and Paul doesn't sing them. Bravo.

Uhmmmm okayyyyy... But thats your opinion. Don't dress it up as if it were a fact. I for my part am a classical singer and I happen to love most opera music.

Because you don't appreciate opera as an art form doesn't mean it's all crap. Are you aware how long it takes for a lead in opera to learn the role from scratch, often in a foreign language. I'm pleased for Paul and the niche he has carved for himself but in no way can he ever be compared to true operatic stars. In this performance for example, his voice was faltering on the final high C. Listen to this and then immediately compare it to someone like Joseph Calleja, Franco Correlli, Jussi Boring, Lawrence Brownlee or Luciano Pavarotti and I'm sure you'll appreciate the difference. Ultimately it comes down to either wanting to hear the best or being happy to settle for something less. I admire Paul Potts for having overcome the particular adversities in his personal life and wish him every success as do many others: that isn't an excuse though for disrespecting those performers who spend many, many years of their lives perfecting and living their art but never achieve the overnight success that Paul has enjoyed.

I'm so grateful I had the chance to attend the Opera at the Met many times when I lived in Manhattan. Like it or not, there's extreme talent and work that goes into it and I can appreciate that.

@@phedrob3735 Jussi Bjorling, not Boring. What do you think of Jonas Kaufmann, who wowed the audience at La Scala? BTW, Franco Corelli is my favorite opera tenor. He owned Nessun Dorma, even though Pavarotti used it as his signature song, he paid tribute to Corelli.

He is the next Pavarotti! I'm an American, a Pavarotti fan, and I adore Paul Potts. Saw him on Britain's Got Talent clips. Give him time for more stage presence, but his voice gives me chills. He's the best of Britain!

Everytime I hear Paul Potts , it moves me to tears. I don't know opera, I don't like opera. Paul Potts has made the crossover to the mainstream, and made it something beautiful for the masses. Something opera world snobs should take note of.

This is an absolutely amazing work. The talent of Paul Potts:"lump of coal that became a diamond", a priceless cast of background artists, and the wonderful composers who produced this masterpiece.... I absolutely love it....It is spiritually rousing...Like A.Lincoln noted on another subject..It calls to our "Better Angels". I will listen to It over and over because it is wonderful.

Paul Potts is a very special person, and quite obviously, a brand new crystal clear, and powerful opera singer. Some critics would not agree, and I would seriously question their credentials. Many of them spend too much time in front of the mirror in admiration, but then again, they could not make it any other way. I never realized how truly great paul really is, until the end of his performance in front of the Queen. He did not forget to turn around and thank the people behind him. Bravo!

I was blown away when I saw him on AGT idd heard a bit off opera but didnt follow it listening to him sing opera opened up my love for opera he was so good brought opera into the ordinary mans world it still gets me everytime I listen to this

People might like to draw comparisons between Pott and Pavarotti or Bocelli and say Pott doesn't stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the heavyweights, but I think what is important to consider is that Pott had an untrained talent which was so distilled in spite of his inexperience that it was immediately recognizable and powerful enough for entire populations of people to take notice. It's not that he simply isn't as good, but for the time, he lacked the training and coaching necessary to deliver flawless performances of songs not native to his own language. Of course he may get inflections or pronunciations less than exact, but it's all literally foreign to him. If he continues on this path for the rest of his life, with proper training and over time, who's to say if he won't be casting his own shadow in the pantheon of the rest of the greats that people think he may be just falling short of right now.

My 'gut' clutches and my heart starts beating faster.... Thank you, Mr. Potts. I am SO pleased at your success. There are only four "...Got Talent" 'stars' that I play over and over and.... Obviously, you. Susan Boyle, Brian Justin Crum and a punk, Andrew DeLeon.* Each of you are shockers of massive talent. De Leon, well, he turned out not to be to my 'taste' as it were, but his initial performance was excellent. Crum because he is deserving. Susan Boyle, the reason why is obvious, and you. All of you faced certain 'levels' of personal difficulties as youth and young and into your early adult years, and that in itself makes each of your successes so much more meaningful. Your voice and demeanor make you a star. Thank you for your quality as a human...

Es dürfte an der Zeit sein endlich umzudenken. Man darf einen Menschen eben nicht nur nach seinem Äußeren beurteilen, was immer noch oft genug passiert. Vielmehr sind ALLE Werte auschlaggebend. Gleiches Recht und gleiche Würde für ALLE!

Hier had Paul Pots al genoeg verdiend om een nieuw gebit aan te schaffen. Maar alle gekheid op een stokje, hij heeft een prachtige stem maar.... ik hoor Jonathan van Jonathan en Charlotte toch liever. deze jongeman van nu zo'n 18 jaar heeft een stem die dieper en zuiverder is. Dus, The Winner is.. Jonathan!!
