That actually isn't true. Paul had nothing to do with Queen's performance at Live Aid, Queen was always part of the line up. Another detail the movie twisted was Freddie wasn't diagnosed with AIDS until 87 I believe, so that had no affect on the Live Aid performance.

@Ray Source for what? That the producers added this conflict to the movie to make it more interesting because you can find that in multiple articles on google from interviews with both Brian May and Rodger Taylor. Don't get me wrong I love this movie, it deserved best picture at the Oscars in my opinion, but some of the events that happened in it aren't 100% true.

Since people are coming here to hate on Paul Prenter after watching the movie, I’ll give you another reason: A lot of people think the reason Queen lost their support from the USA was due to their I Want to Break Free music video, but that was only one piece of the puzzle. They were still getting requests to play in the US, but when they would ring Freddie to set something up, Paul would tell them to fuck off and hung up up on them. This made Queen reviled in the US music exec circles.

thats all fictional, it never really happened in real life. A lot of stuff in the movie are actually made up to cause drama, for example: Freddie and the rest of the bandmates never had a fight about Freddie’s solo album. Roger already had a solo album before Freddie. The band just decided to take a break from all the touring and focus on their solo projects, which is exactly what Freddie did. In the movie Freddie also got diagnosed with AIDS in 1985, before Live Aid which is also not true. In real life Freddie got diagnosed with AIDS in 1987. In the movie they also made it seem like Roger and Freddie didn’t really get along to well like the rest of the bandmates, which is also not true. Freddie and Roger were really close, they were best friends. Freddie even got to decide Roger’s sons name. Freddie was also Roger’s best man at his first wedding. The way that Freddie met the bandmates is also not true. Freddie and Roger already knew each other before queen, they had their own store together. John Deacon also has very little screen time in the movie, while John was the closest to Freddie in the band. The way that Freddie and Mary met are is also fictional. Mary was first in a non-serious relationship with Brian, Freddie talked about Mary a lot so Brian decided to introduce Freddie to Mary. Freddie was really shy in real life, he was never alone when greeting Mary. He was always with someone, that went on for about 5-6 months. Then Freddie built up the courage to finally ask Mary out on a date. The movie also made Freddie seem like a ‘spoiled Diva’ when in reality he could be really shy and quiet. Of course Freddie had his outrageous side as well! A lot of things in the movie are fictional so i wouldn’t go off of the information in the movie :)

He died of AIDs related causes around 3 months before Freddie. He sold Freddie out to the media for about 32k, detailing his sexuality and the risk of him being diagnosed with the virus. After that, he was immediately fired. Jim writes about how personally this affected Freddie's esteem because the media, of course, ate it up. Not really much is known about what happened after Queen. I'm assuming he tended to other agencies and groups in order to keep the money coming in. But he's earned his "Judas" title for sure.

With all do love and respect to Freddie but I think he blamed himself for hiring such a ... I'm not judging Fred and I don't pretend that I know in his own business more than he did but he should've listened to the band! This snake costed the band a lot and most importantly he KILLED Freddie Mercury!

Had no idea about this guy until Bohemian Rhapsody. I don't think he was evil necessarily, just a thoroughly selfish person. I don't think it's fair to blame Freddie Mercury's death on him though because he suffered the same fate. AIDS was something that people didn't know about until it was too late and Prenter and Mercury probably got it before they even knew it was a thing. I mean, Freddie was an adult, even when he knew the risks he ignored the warning signs until it was too late. When a friend Paul Gambaccini asked him if he was taking precautions for safety's sake Freddie told him "my attitude is fuck it, I'm doing everything with everybody" and Gambaccini just thought something like "Oh fuck. AIDS is going to finish him. He's going to be next, he's a gonner. I just know it."
