No lie, Mexican funerals are wild. There’s always the abuelitas praying, the ladies crying their hearts out to the point you’re scared, a drunk rambling about the deceased, the people pigging out, and the rest of us who don’t know wtf is happening. 🤣 he’s right about old guys thinking they can throw chingazos

Speaking of Mexican funerals, here’s a truthful story lol: An old lady died and the whole Mexican family and friends were just so sad; eating, drinking and crying. On the third day when it was time for the burial. Everyone walked (in Mexico, we have the tradition of walking all the way from the house to the cemetery). Everyone were crying, drinking and singing a goodbye song for the deceased and.... When they finally arrived and gathered around the burial hole they realized they had forgotten the dead person in the house 😂😂😂

My grandfather-in -law outlived two wives, his children, all his peers, friends and all 16 of his siblings. At 104, he could stillcarry on a conversation about current events, and live alone in his assisted living facility with all us visiting and loving. Only he became quiet. He was ready to go but his body was too strong. At 105, he just started to leave. He was ready to go. He was lovingly moved into a grandsons home where he finally passed.

@The Lost Media Library, I don't know why your so triggered by my comment. I'm not wrong. Is it because I am a Mexican American? Last time I checked mi great abuela was born in Mexico before it was the U.S. Also, it's just not Spanish. It's heavily mixed with indigenous believes too. Mexico is a big country with different indigenous groups besides the Tlaxcala. I also never said the Tlaxcala ( "your ancestors") never visited the Philippines. @@soniatovar1884 I still do not speak Spanish and that is the sad part. I catch on to the slang/bad words/food so easily, but everything else, I just know words/phrases. But .. That is where I have come to the conclusion how shallow some ppl are. Half my in laws don't speak English. It doesn't matter. Mexicans are very simple, easy going ppl .. Some food, family, and cerveza. The conversation just carries on .. Gringos aren't like that. Always gta impress somebody. 😒👎

The rosary. The funeral is solemn. Sometimes mariachis. After, a long slow line forms to speak to the family in the front row. Crying. Hugs. And always that one relative who takes a picture and everyone gets on him in angry and hushed tones. The graveside. service. Then everyone gathers to eat. The quiet fades. Family is that hasn’t seen each other since the last funeral. It used to be weddings we saw everyone. Less weddings. More funerals. Everyone breaking off into groups. Laughter. Even the immediate family can smile and laugh. We’ll all cry later again.

apparently he has never went to a Southern Baptist funeral. They bring more food then the entire church can consume. You put on 5 pounds at one of their services for the dead

I know that's right. My dad was a Southern Baptist Minister and when he died , oh my damn the amount of food that ended up in my freezer lasted almost 2 months after his funeral. Nothing catered , all made by his church congregation members. Everyone was shocked to see me at the Church since I had moved out at 18 and never went to visit except for birthdays and Holidays but never to his Church.

I remember when I was a little girl I didn’t even know we were in a funeral. We used to gather in my grandparents farm house. When my grandmas sister died, they had a funeral, And funerals are so different over there. My grandma was cooking tamales de carne y pollo and baking pan dulce. And in the afternoon a bunch of people came and some were inside by the casket but half the people were outside the house talking, like it was a whole family and friends reunion. Kids would be running around the house playing, older people would be sitting on plastic chairs with their pan dulce and their coffee. They had music blasting outside while people caught up and kids played around. There was tears shed but it for like a minute and then everyone was eating and talking. No one used to cry because they used to say “Why cry, they lived their lives now let them Rest In Peace”. It was a whole family, friends, neighbors reunion. We used to stay awake till 4am. When I came to the US at 8 years old I saw how different it was. I went to a funeral, everyone was wearing black, everyone was crying, everyone was sitting down in chairs while the pastor talked. But the worst thing is that they had the funeral in a funeral home. I did not like that. I don’t go to funerals. Like I am invited but I don’t go and if I go I don’t go all the way in cause they are so depressing. I like the funerals back at home better
