Hey everyone. There has been a lot of commentary about the 365 (we have a presentation on it). The 365 is a striker action with a very light trigger pull, lighter than some single actions I have fired. In my opinion it has a higher chance of negligent discharge due to unintentional finger on the trigger than other strikers like most Glocks. So... If you get a 365 make sure you carry it in the proper holster that covers the trigger and I would prefer the version of the 365 that has the manual safety.
@MOTO809
@MOTO809 3 жыл бұрын
Very true, I have the XL. A holster that covers the trigger is a MUST. It is a very light trigger for a striker fire. It makes shooting it quite nice though.

Although it would be unlikely somebody would be able to take your handgun, the Blackhawk has the pro of if you arent familiar with guns it is somewhat complex to operate. So somebody who might take it may not be able to use it in their favor.

@@clintsingleton3846 worth noting that beretta produces guns in both Italy and the US, and that the Italian ones are known for high quality but beretta USA is infamous for churning out a lot of crap. Beretta USA supplied some of our military M9s, so I think between that and the sheer amount of time they were being used and not replaced goes a long way towards explaining why so many people have such diverse opinions on it with very little middle ground.

You'd be surprised at the number of clients I've had (widely spread out over Texas and New Mexico) that have the same story about little people that live in their ceiling coming down and stealing their keys during the night. I've even had a mother/daughter tag team that lined their rooms with foil to keep out the CIA's "listening rays" and wanting high security locks to keep the CIA and drug cartels from picking their locks.Yeah, these people are out there, and not few and far between. And don't even get me started about the lady with little people living in her sofa who had a "doctor" poop in her hands while performing an operation at her dining room table. True stories.

When Paul says "This is the boring part": It's the part I should pay attention to. When Paul says "This is NOT a recommendation" : I take it as a recommendation.
@poika22
@poika22 3 жыл бұрын
Well that's because they are recommendations. I understand Paul doesn't want to present his opinions as facts or get into arguments with people over them and that's why he gives those disclaimers, but just a glimpse at a dictionary shows us: recommend put forward (someone or something) with approval as being suitable for a particular purpose or role. That describes the video pretty accurately. Saying it's "not a recommendation" while giving recommendations is bit of a cop out, like having your cake and eating it too. I get why he'd do it, but I think the "my training, my experience..." disclaimer should be sufficient by itself.

I feel like the "Go with what you know" tip can actually be visually observed in this video. Even across recommended handguns, it seems like Paul's confidence with the Baretta platform can be seen in real time. Time between shots, target acquisition, and posture seem to be so comfortable he almost starts actions before the previous one has finished, regardless of caliber, like he gets into position before the gun itself quite gets there. The differences might be individually negligible, but for this to be something visible in a professional would suggest to me a greater overall benefit for people who are less familiar with firearms in general.

I have a couple of college degrees. I conducted numerous instructional courses to professionals in how to be subject matter experts, I have attended many short and long courses in technical subjects related to my profession. That is a long way of saying that I have a LOT of experience both attending and teaching various subjects. I, also, attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where I received a LOT of instruction in field artillery, and yes I graduated and went to Vietnam in 1970 as a 2nd Lt. So not only do I have a LOT of experience in classroom and field instruction, I know a lot about guns. I was a forward observer in Nam. I say all of that as a way of qualifying what I have to say. Paul Harrell is one of the BEST instructors I have ever heard. I’ve watched dozens of his videos over the years, and no one is better. I had a few instructors in the military that were close to him, if not his equal, and they had very similar presentation styles. The first one was a drill sergeant in basic training (introduction to the M14), another was a staff sergeant in advanced individual training (computing firing data for howitzers), and the other two were both retired majors who taught a sub-course in the mechanical functioning of the self propelled 155 howitzer. I had some excellent college professors, but none at Paul’s level. I would advise anyone thinking of making instructional videos to watch all of Paul’s videos.

His opinion is based on His training, His education, His experience, and different people have different experiences so they have different opinions, and He makes no claim that His opinion has its origin in the mind of greatness. I learned early on, carry the largest gun that you will actually carry and a gun you shoot well. Dress around the gun and make sure you have a good belt and holster. So here I am in the Deep South and carry a stainless commander size 1911 every day with two extra mags and have no issues with concealment or being uncomfortable. For many years my family didn’t even know I carried a gun let alone ole slabsides, but I like it and I’m confident with it and that goes a long way over how many rounds the mag holds.

I carry a 1911 Colt XSE open and concealed. I've done so for the last 20 years. Prior to Texas implementing our CHL, I was carrying a .44mag Redhawk about the farm, and later concealed. But with a 7.5" barrel, it was pretty obvious when carrying in a shoulder holster.

That's great that it works for you. I do carry a full size most of the time. There have been times where if I got caught with a gun would have meant I would be fired, even though it wasn't illegal, it was against company policy. Always a good thing to have a small option, even when preference is for bigger.

Paul, I have just discovered you and your channel on KZfaq. I have to say you are the best gun narrator I have ever seen or heard! You have a no-nonsense, no I am always right presence and your voice is soft and very controlled. When you say something, it is from your knowledge and you do not add the usual "I know everything and you know nothing" attitude of most gun channels! When you want to prove something you simply shoot the guns in question and show your audience the truth. You do not fudge your findings and you tell it like it is! I have clicked on a lot of gun channels similar to yours but after a few videos, I remove myself from their site! In fact, I now have only three sites left. Yours, C&Rsenal and Ian's Forgotten Weapons. I not only enjoy your no-nonsense approach to testing theory and hearsay and other questionable things I have heard about certain firearms but you simply show what the truth is. The best thing I like about you is you don't act like you know everything! You just show your audience the guns and shoot them and prove your point or disprove another person's point. I love it. So I have now joined your site and will see if I can support you in a small fashion. I am a 75-year-old retired Navy Pilot along with a couple of other careers I don't want to bore you with! Keep up the great work Paul. And thank you for such great no-nonsense information.

A .17HMR, .22LR or .25ACP through the pharynx is a whole lot more effective than a .50AE six inches over the target's head, and also less dangerous to everyone else within about two miles behind the target.

5:30 that person is me in Phoenix during the summer I’m usually in basketball shorts not the flip flops but my LCP is perfect for the summer months it’s smaller then my cellphone even. There was a firework stand owner here in west Phoenix a couple years ago that got approached by an armed robber while getting ready to head home the armed robber demanded cash so the good guy obliged reached in his pocket grabbed his LCP and shot the bad guy in the face dropping him instantly, the bad guys woman was his get a way driver she was sitting in the car and witnessed her man get his melon popped it freaked her out so bad she took off running leaving her registered vehicle behind lol. Because this situation happened in Arizona and Ruger’s are made here I thought it made a good advertiser

Same thing here in Texas. Hot as hell in the summer but my little LCP II is a dream to carry in light clothing. I rock the same outfit, Gym Shorts, T Shirt and Flip Flops. As Paul says, "Program Compliance".

Same reason I carry an lcp. I can just drop it in my pocket and forget about it. Whether in gym shorts, or jeans. About the same silhouette as a cell phone when in its holster. Don’t want to change how I dress to carry.

People have to adjust to their circumstances. My clothing (uniform) and work make having anything but a tiny pistol on my person impossible. My hands are simply too big to allow me to use a tiny pistol. Hell, my friend showed me a .380 he has, and was wondering if it would be the right thing to use to put down his sick dog. He was thinking about doing a double tap on the back of the dog's neck. He wanted me to go along with him to do the job if he couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger. As such, I tried the pistol in my hand and was very uncomfortable with trying to grip it and work the trigger. I also was uncomfortable with the idea of trying to instantly kill the dog with FMJ ammo out of the little cartridge. I told him we'd use a better choice for the job, and introduced him to my Smith and Wesson 4506 and the Glaser Safety Slugs. I told him that it would be the best choice for the job at hand, and it was. A single round into the back of the head put the dog out of his misery in half an instant. My friend was concerned that there could be more suffering from a bad shot placement, which is why he was thinking about the double tap with the .380 and FMJ ammo. At the moment of truth, the Glaser did its job. Like switching off a light. It's something I took no pleasure in doing, but it's something I was able to do by blocking out the emotions and going to a matter of fact, job that had to be done, and done right attitude. We completed the job with a short burial and returned home. I kept my emotions in check, while my friend drove home. He was very mixed in his own emotions. I thought he might break down over the death of his dog, but he didn't at that time. He was more impressed than I expected with the killing performance. He expected some type of suffering response to the shot. The instant shutdown surprised him. He was extremely relieved that there was no suffering beyond the constant pain from an inoperable tumor.

In 2004 I was lucky to find a Ruger Blackhawk Convertible with 2 cylinders chambered in 45 LC and 45 ACP. It's been a great gun with the capability to handle more than one type of ammunition (including 45LC +P) with ease. I wish Ruger would reintroduce it.
