Too many excuses for the England players, especially this Arsenal fan here. In international football bad players/system players will get exposed in any position. Bellingham not a No10, Saka has no overlapping full-back, Rice not a Partey or Jorginho next to him to dictate the game. If you can‘t do the basic stuff it will show, in international football there is no hiding in set systems. Players like Bellingham and Rice don‘t have any outstanding quality. Southgate is not a tactician, he’s putting players out of positions are lazy arguments. These players are just not as good as you thought. The lack of control and technical ability in midfield is a historic problem of the national team. Therefore they always came short when they faced a big team in a tournament.

Saka shouldn't be left back for 2 simple reasons, 1) hasn't trained there for 5 years and you want to risk an experiment in a major comp for Palmer's 19min cameo where he did no better than Jared Bowen. 2) if england loose saka will once again be blamed for england's failure not the manager, not kane, not foden, not palmer but Saka which is insanely unfair.
