I’m confused...most professional dancers these days have some type of technical training background. But I do miss the technique of the 90’s in the majority of performances and not just some 😭😩

Sorry, but Paula didn't sing live and she hardly does. She lipsynched that entire performance as many others that she did. I live her sings, but let's not get it twisted. As far as singing in tune, nah. Like Whitney said, she sang off key on the actual recordings of her songs.

When she started to wear crop tops around the 93 Janet era, other stars like Britney, Christina, and Aaliyah started to wear them as well in the late 90s, so Janet made that more popular among fashion. During the 80s and also the early 90s, style was a lot different, Janet definitely changed the game not just with her music, but also with fashion in general.

Well stated. Paula was the polished and professional dancer, but Janet had better backing, music, and what's more it was really coming from her. Each album was about what was going on in her life and not just a "pop" album imo anyway. The Times were the best overall! No matter who you like better, there was no better time to be alive than the 90's (and the last of the great music)

The audience was probably louder for Paula bc it was the opening of the show for one. Also Paula sang The Way That You Love Me which had already peaked on the charts, so the audience was very familiar with Paula's hit song. I don't think Escapade was a hit yet; so they may have been quieter for that reason during the Janet performance
