The verse in the description text should be 1 Chronicles 25:7 for "All the musicians were trained and skilled in music for The Lord". Great stuff!

Absolutely loved this video!!! This was ordained by God for me to see this. Carl, I’m a drummer myself. This was spot on. I do practice with a metronome, and love it. Paul, I loved what you said about getting in the word. Grow in God first, then grow as a musician.

I played a gig at the Olympics (I’m a bassist)with my drummer brother ( rock solid drummer). We were on a huge outdoor stage, and I was far away from him out front. We started the first song and I realized I had no drums in the monitor; I couldn’t hear him at all ( he’s not a loud player). My clock internally is solid as a rock, so I just played. After the gig, I told my brother that I couldn’t hear him on the first song; he said in his monitor, that I was perfectly in time with him.

Most metronome and click track apps let you program in a set list, so you can easily switch from one song (tempo/meter) to the next. Some even allow for foot pedals to control on/off, previous song, next song, etc. so you can run it hands free.

5mins in about the drum machine being off time reminds me of a a story that circulates about Swedish legendary studio drummer Per Lindvall, who went in to cut a drum track against a machine, and they didn't sync. He was adamant that he was on tempo and the machine was off. Turns out he was right; the drum machine was voltage controlled, and the building had slightly unsteady mains.

We don't have a full band per se, and I play drums and lead sing over almost all the CCLI songs we play from the computer. Don't laugh...it works and we've been doing it for years this way. Sometimes the songs will speed up, just enough for me to notice, especially "All Things are Possible" and "Lord You are Good" and I feel I have to rush to catch up to it, but the rest of the singers don't even notice. My worship leader wife will say later I was off a little and I tell her that some of the songs sped up again while we were playing. Is that a voltage mains thing too or is it a windows media player / youtube issue? We are in an old 1980's industrial building with fluorescent light fixtures.

Roger Jones computers have extremely exact clocks, and if one computer should fall out of sync with the one providing streamed content it just wouldn’t work. Also, I imagine you’re using a laptop or similar, which will have a battery to further balance out any imperfections in the electricity. Fluorescent lights might cause a nasty hum, but not the effects you describe. The cause must lie elsewhere.

@@migrantfamily Thanks, actually we are using an HP tower running Windows 8 and the newest version of Windows Media Player. We also have an issue of what sounds like "phasing" of volume (like a wave) and that's why I brought up the fluorescent light fixture issue and possible "brown outs" (voltage glitches)
