I grew up in the 1970's and I skipped a generation having older parents. They talked a lot of how they could see the changes being made and were worried about the future of their children and grandchildren. Much of what they predicted has happened I'm afraid to say. When you're young you don't see it and don't listen. I remember them saying to me back then that my generation had very few of the freedoms they had had, and a much worse education which they could see was being politicised.

@heathercooper6043 Exactly the same as me Heather. I am the youngest of 4 children (I was a mistake !) My mother was 35, and my father was 40 when I was born. As a kid, I would sometimes be embarrassed of having "old" parents, but over time, I realised it was a huge advantage. People have such an "Entitlement" attitude nowadays, but my father instilled into me that the world doesn't owe you a living. He was born in 1931, which was probably the worst time considering we were financially getting over WW1 and then straight into WW2 when he was at junior school ! People who complain they are skint now dont know what skint is ! BUT as you pointed out, they were happier back then with all the freedom, and a cohesive society.
