It's early morning, soft light falls on the garden while we take a leisurely walk and narrated tour around the whole garden - front and back. In my northerly English Garden the sun rises at 4.45am and doesn't set till 21:45 during the long days of June.

A superlative video Paul, thank you so much. Everything is so well tended and responding to your care - the surprise is how much earlier all your plants come into flower: the first few small roses opened this week here, and azaleas just finishing. I daren't grow some that you have, because of cold, even wind-chill - a real killer. It's such a delight, to ease the heart, this.
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Wendy - actually you should see the plants today (I shot this video on the 15th) so many have flowers on them now. Main problem is lack of rain - it has only rained once for an hour in weeks and all my water butts are empty.

@@paultsworld Your sandy loam and all those shrubs must guzzle water; here it drains through rocks and downhill often before plants get a drink, so I've no hesitation regarding tap water. Best way is to fill containers, adding lots of Comfrey leaves; stinks but it's good - and free fertilizer.

Hi Paul, such a lovely oasis in this busy world. I love your yellow honeysuckle. You have such a wonderful variety of plants. Gives me many ideas. Especially loved seeing the pond again 😊 Congrats on your great results with the plugs. Is it worth the work it takes? Thanks for another wonderful look at your gardens 😊❤️
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Vicki, pleased you enjoyed seeing the pond - it was a bit different this year due to the weather and the water clouded up so didn't get to photograph the newts. But the pond plants are doing well. It was too much work with the plugs this year because of the very cold May - however I have just planted them and now it all seems worthwhile as they're growing well.

@@paultsworld You probably don’t remember me, but I’m the one that asked so many questions about the birds. I took your advice and started with the food you suggested….and have been very patient. I now have a good variety of birds. Doves, Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Bluejays, and little brown ones that I don’t know. They come to feed early morning and late evening. I have learned the sound of some of them. One of the doves let me get about a foot away from him yesterday when he was in the feeder. I believe they are getting to know me. I also keep fresh water in the birdbath and they love that in the hot Florida weather! Thank you for all of your advice and encouragement. I truly appreciate it. Thank you for sharing this video Paul. A very prim and proper garden though. I love the California Lilac, never seen them here. Lucky you to get such a lovely Peony bush and Dahlias from a neighbour. Your Tiger Lilies look tall and do post a video when they flower. It's true with the Lily bug, a real nuisance, i pick them and diminish them too. My orange Tiger lilies are in full bloom now. Yellow new ones will open up tomorrow. Dark pinkish ones in about 10 days, i think. The roses look SUPERB.Happy Gardening🌱🌿🌼🐝🌺🌻🌞🌧💚💚 from Berlin,Germany

Glad you enjoyed the tour Carolina. Rowan is a great tree. You can get the 'common, wild one' like mine with the red berries that the birds like so much or there are the more ornamental ones with different coloured berries that the birds don't like so they stay on the tree all Winter. It is fun swopping plants with neighbours who are keen on gardening!

Hi Paul. Your garden is looking beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing your tree lilies. I'm not familiar with them. The plant you called granny's necklace we call pheasant Berry here in Ireland . It does self seed as does the grass you have in front of the foxglove near your pond..i keep pulling it up. . Thank you for the lovely tour Paul

Hi Catherine, what a nice name 'pheasant berry' - I love local names. It does self-seed a lot! Thank you for reminding me of the carex pendula - it is a thug round the garden and I must clip off the seed stems.

Thank you so much for sharing Paul. I would have to search the dictionary for adjectives sufficient to describe your garden. It is a shadow of the heavenly gardens waiting for us. Each plant has its own unique beauty. I am especially drawn to the grandma’s necklace, the California lilac (Is it really a pale blue color?) so beautiful, the climbing roses; the list would be long. If you are not a master gardener, you are deserving of the title. You are a very gracious and entertaining host, as well. So enjoy the chorus of bird songs, too. I recognIzed two or three calls, but would appreciate identification of the calls if you are able to include that in future videos. (I am a birder). Easy to watch, well done professional video. Thank you so much. Enjoying from Wyoming, USA. Take care. Blessings

So pleased you enjoyed my garden Sharon and greetings from England. In the months to come the Grandma's necklace gets better and better with lovely long flowers and then berries for the birds. Yes, that particular California Lilac is a pale blue. Good idea about the bird calls - the cooing is the wood pigeon (Columba palumbus), the louder call is the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) and the singing call is the robin (Erithacus rubecula).

As always - such a lovely woodland garden tour Paul! Surprised to see your iris & peonies still blooming in Mid-June. Did not know you guys don’t water the lawn in UK. What is the reason behind this idea Paul? To conserve drinking water? Beautiful masquerade roses. Your honeysuckle is lush with no fungus! 💚
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy, the red peony is at its best right now but notice the white ones in the front garden are just starting to drop their leaves. Maybe our cold May delayed flowering. That's right we often have water shortages in Britain (contrary to popular belief!). So we water only where necessary, the grass goes brown but turns quickly back to green when it rains - it doesn't die. Also I am on a water meter and pay for every drop I use - except for my 6 water butts (rain barrels) where it's 'free'!

Well worth the work you put in Paul, to be able to share with us is just great. Do you do a general feed through out the year to borders and lawns?
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Every now and then I water with a soluble Growmore. For specific plants which are in bloom I'll add a little tomorite and weed and feed to the lawn in Spring and Autumn. Sometimes I'll scatter chicken pellets round a plant if it is a heavy feeder. Then ease right off once August comes so the plants don't put on new weak sappy growth just before Winter.

Good Morning Paul, Sooooo peaceful in your garden at 7 am! The birds are loving life aren't they. Oh and you have so many humle (bumble bees) they are so beautiful. We lived in DK for 2 years and I just love the low drone followed by the high pitched whir when they are in flowers. Also the pigeons cooing remind me of DK as well, there is nothing better than summer in Europe, is there? you are very lucky. You are having such a good summer, the garden looks superb.
