In this tip I show you a great drill to get more clubhead speed. It teaches you how to loosen your wrists throughout your whole golf swing. This is one of my best drills so make sure you do it consistently.
Free samples from my Body Swing here: bodyswing.com/freesamples/
If you want more club head speed doesn't it make sense that you need a looser wrist hinge? I should because until now you have been swinging as hard as you can but not hitting your irons pure or hitting your driver longer.
So if you're stuck spinning your wheels maybe there is a different way to get more distance. Watch this wrist hinge drill and within minutes you can start to loose up.
This drill is done with irons but you can do it with your driver too. You can do this at home, at the practice range or even when you play. The more you do it the looser your writs will become. The looser the wrists the faster the club will swing which will translate to longer irons and more driver distance.
Please visit the link below and I will send you free samples from my Body Swing book and video series: bodyswing.com/freesamples/

Wow….what a transformation. This whole lag thing has completely screwed up my swing. Your method is so natural, centrifugal force takes over if you let it and it’s so simple. I got it straight away with no effort. Driver swing was 87mph and is now 102! Thank you so much 🙏🏻

Wow, that's great. Amazing difference. Be sure to stick with it and be careful that you are not hitting harder and harder with the arms. If so, you will lock up and lose it which I don't want that to happen.

Thank you for your vids, I find them very useful. I have been for a long long time trying to loosen my wrists with little success. Quite recently, I have changed my mind an am centered in loosening my forearms, just below the elbows and the improvement has been extraordinary with instant 30 yds gain and much straighter shots. I found that it is simply impossible not to loosen the wrists in the muscles of the forearms are relaxed.

I cannot begin to tell you how much this has helped me to improve my game. All I have in my mind is hinge, rehinge. From driver to sand iron it works. My pitching and bunker play is beyond comprehension with this loose wrist technique. I've added a slight pause at the top of the backswing which completes the swing combination. Hinge, pause, rehinge. Boom! This takes what Manuel De La Torre was talking about to a new level.

Paul, I'll admit I didn't get this drill at first. It didn't feel right which looking back, obviously meant my wrists were tight and resistant. I practiced the other positions diligently but put this drill off. I decided to commit to it and practice. It started to come along nicely and my wrists were getting looser, and then one time I got the notion to combine it with the idea of widening the arc, and then I dramatically felt the snap and I even heard a nice whoosh with my iron. That was my a-ha moment and I just about jumped for joy. Now I love this drill and see the power in it. It's like the more you focus on getting the butt of the club away from your belly button as fast as possible, the more likely you are to feel the snap. Thanks Paul!

Paul, I am starting to play again after 10 years. In that time I did not swing a club. I was pretty good and had tons of effortless power. Since I started back I have ..... well SUCKED. Fat. Thin, left right. I almost gave up out of total dejection. I saw your video on using your body turn and I realized I was using all arm! I was trying to force distance like I used to hit. I went out to play this weekend and focused on body and relaxed arms, wrist and shoulders. I hit straight pure shots when I could remember to relax. New bad habits are still hard to break. 😁 Now everytime I watch a video of yours, I seem to have another epiphany. I am so glad I found you. THANKS SO MUCH.

hello Paul, thank you very much for your great video sequences on KZfaq. I was already a friend of the relaxed golf swing. Thanks to your instructions, I was able to improve a lot, in particular by using my hips, I was able to generate a few additional meters in my golf shots. Another nice effect is the incredulous look of my golf colleagues, apparently gaining more distance by slowing down. The funniest comment about my swing: "He no longer exerts himself when hitting the golf ball and still laughs when he hits it!" I recommend you very often and more and more other golfers trust in your body swing! Thanks and keep it up Paul

Paul Wilson Golf Lesson 1 talks about the grip, but it didn’t talk about the pressure applied. But in Lesson 4 on the follow-through (page 61) it states, “Make sure you are using the neutral grip as described in lesson 1, and keep your grip pressure at 2 out of 10, where 10 is tightest.” When I applied this approximately 2 pressure, I can feel a heavier club head. When I got a tighter grip pressure with my driver & didn’t notice, my ball fight was going right. After lightening my grip pressure, my drives started towards my desired direction!

Not sure what that means. You tried something new and didn't break 90? Sometimes you need to work on things and sometimes they are so new a different you are not good at it so you play worse. Just keep doing it. In no time you will be breaking 90 again then if you keep working on my stuff you will break 80.

I found this video and started the drill last Sunday. The drill also exposed a swing flaw. Great video. Definitely key to keep wrists loose or they won't set into that fully hinged position. But at same time need to maintain structure in the arms in the backswing and on the downswing turn the arms off. If you can do it this is exactly what he is demonstrating. Hey this drill works. I just could not loosen up to let the arms and wrists respond to the body turn. But this drill made it happen. But it's only been 2 buckets so far. Thanks Paul.

Tried that Paul,i have an adage that i have bastardised but is so relevant to the swing," "He who hesitates is (not) lost".That hesitation at the commencement of the down swing is the catalyst,it can be the difference between a shot to behold or conversely a disaster.In your wisdom Paul,why is it that i can drive balls all day and yet the three wood has trouble even getting distance let alone height,i've even resorted to playing the driver off the deck for second shots on par fives?

Hi Paul, I tried this and I found that when I made contact, it felt really good but the distance was not there. I am in Canada and all our ranges and courses are currently closed but will give it another go. I now just swing at the park with no ball and have started taking a divot on most swings. As soon as the range opens, I will sign up for the coach link. I am putting in a lot of effort and it's a complete change for me so I hope it works.

Keep in mind this is a piece of the swing. It's the arm unit. This is then attached to your body which is coiling and uncoiling. This coiling and uncoiling is where the power comes from. So if your wrists are loose and you don't have power then you need to start firing the lower body way harder. Do this drill daily now too: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rpd-mMt4zp7YqX0.html

Yes, it's a great view. Driver is simple. I can get you killing it but you need to follow the steps. Right now you are trying to hit it too hard with the arms. If the face is open you have the wrong spin. So you need to fix that first. Curing slices in minutes is one of my specialties. Just need to see and understand what's happening. If you are slicing the face is open. This means you are not allowing it to rehinge. In other words with driver you are trying to hit it too hard and tightening your wrists. See the wrists as a hinge. They hinge ... they rehinge. Hopefully, you are doing my neutral grip. Then do this drill and watch the face: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hax6gq9zuL63loU.html Then roll it from the top and get it consistently hooking (this is step 1): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btifkpR_vrbIaJc.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdSBZamXybemdKM.html Once you can consistently hook it, you start to add body to straighten it out (step 2). To do that, you can use this trigger: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMqgm9eZqLedhoE.html So simple. Watch how as I can cure slicers in the 2 video on this page. If interested, you can pick up my cure your slice video: www.paulwilsongolf.com/cure-slice

It’s also a good anti hitting drill in that by hinging and rehinging through the hitting area the swing moves the club head through, not stopping at the ball. I use it like a waggle.

Hi Paul, I enjoy your videos the most because I also swing with loose wrists. But something happens to me at the top of my backswing. The club bounces up and down at the top of the backswing. Is this normal? Should I put some strength in my wrists to stop that bounce? Thanks!
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I think I know the bouncing your talking about. The bounce down would be you relaxing the wrists or even letting go of the club. The bounce up is you grabbing back on or trying to hit with the arms. You need to secure your grip and loosen your wrists here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJ57ZqqU2dHeZ3U.html Keep them turned off as you start the lower to hit the ball. This typically would have the club coming over the top too so you might want to work on this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gdKWma2rx9nPnYE.html

Simple and VERY EFFECTIVE. Worked on this for a half hour, using a 7 iron and a driver, just to get a feel for the effects of a longer club on the hinging feeling. And, yes, I adjusted my grip to get the heel of the palm in the left hand, just like you suggested. That drill really simplifies my swing. I think it removed about three different parts that I was using, to little effect. Full swing with just letting the hands hinge freely is smooth and requires much less grunt to do it. Thanks, Paul. Paul, I enjoy your videos very much especially on the grip and loose wrists. Helped me a lot!! What's your take on flat-wrists versus cupped at the top of the swing? I cup my wrists but gives me a good rhythm to uncoil, shift the weight and compress the ball. I manage to square the club face back at impact and hit well. Now I am trying to flatten my wrists and definitely struggling to get back into the same rhythm but when I get some shots right, they go long effortlessly with a nice small draw. What's your recommendation? Looking forward for your feedback!

Hey Paul, I'm really loving your content after I found out about you! One quick question I have: I totally understand the loose wrists and how it helps club head speed. One thing for me is I've been working hard over the last several months to not "flip" the club. I had a tendency to stand up at impact and cause a lot of hitting with my hands. How do I not revert to that when loosening my wrists this way? I really am working on trying to bring my ball flight down and not add loft. Practicing today I felt a bit of my flip coming back.
@paulwilsongolf

Hi Paul, if I focus on keeping my arms and wrists loose, will the hinge/re-hinge take care of itself? Sometimes I am concentrating on re-hinging and I think I start flipping. I am wondering if I just concentrate on staying loose and relaxed if the hinge will function as it should.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 4 жыл бұрын
You need to work on hinging and rehinging until your wrists are loose. Then you are not thinking of it. Remember, you need to hinge and rehinge while holding a tee in your lead hand. Don't about flipping. Add body rotation to fix it.

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. I would agree that you are just doing band aids. Most people are. As people have said for years it all starts with grip and setup. This means alignment too. Keep this stuff simple and work on one or two pieces until mastered. Grip, setup alignment. Once you get that you can divide the swing into 2 parts. Work on the arm unit until you rarely hit any ball with slice spin. Once you can do that you work on body rotation to straighten it out. Wrists = spin. body = direction. Then into the future you watch your ball to tell what is or isn't working. Once you know this you can fix your own swing instantly. ***START HERE*** Body Swing Concept: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e56pbM123r-XZZ8.html Grip: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLeKf9Npx6yRh6s.html Hinge Rehinge: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMCVh9SU35jUnXk.html Alginment: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jKyKlpOI1picYp8.html Secure Grip: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJ57ZqqU2dHeZ3U.html Best Drill: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbyYp69eyZemaY0.html Power the swing with the legs and hip not the hands and arms. Simple physics of mass swinging around an axis. Think kid on a swing set. Pull them back and let go. If so, the kid comes through square to the top beam. Now the kid goes back and moves their knees side to side. If so they never come through square. The kid is the club, the chains are your arms. Do nothing to influence the club. This is what I figured out and it got my swing back after 10 years of trying everything. I did a tip on it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNCZi9V4sdHVmmQ.html listen carefully to what I say in this tip. Some are not good listeners.
