Kirb picks another new card that had a lot of hype during previews but only just put up some results in an old classic. Does Escape Tunnel make tribe any better?

Hey! Happy to see you play it! Had a nice run with the deck in leagues - 4-1, 2-3, 4-1, 4-1, 5-0, 4-1. Escape tunnel was really big upgrade - freeing couple of slots while giving even more unblockable effects, then before! Added a mystic transformation plan midway (mostly because of 1-4 challenge performance sponsored by 4 snuffout decks in a row). It turned out to be very powerfull, as the deck is perfect shell for mystic. Improoved UB games to some extent and made other black decks matchups (like gardens) into positive. List feels quite optimized, consistent, powerfull and fun to play, should be a perfect choice if UB falls from tier-1 at some point.

Yeah, Faeries and Snuff Out have always been the decks worst matchups. The fact that Mystic can make the fae matchup not terrible now makes it seem worthwhile to pick up again. Especially so if the Snuff Out decks also go away. Nice results! Shame on the challenge one, but the matchup roulette can be rough.

Thanks for the videos! In Round 2 vs Dimir Fae I think it was better playing Island instead of Tunnel. You can counter the faerie with the Circular Logic and have Dispel for the Snuff Out.

Yeah someone else mentioned it as well. I think I was too focused on a Spellstutter blocking even though I could just logic it. Just need to take my time on some of these and think it out a bit more. Should hopefully not be so narrow minded next time a similar situation comes up.

hi 5 & ggs. I like the new escape tunnel seems to clean the deck up a little. However now a days I think I'd try to jam tribe into a terror shell; similar to what boros did in the past.

Love me Tribe, it was one of my first kitchen table decks before pauper was even a thing. And my friends all despised it :P And now Escape Tunnel is a HUGE comeup for this deck! This list is really close to mine but I like to run 4 Delvers 4 Squawks personally. Squawk is good card advantage with Bstorm and Tribe obviously. Delver is a solid alt wincon and good at baiting out removal., or for chip damage which can lower the amount you need to discard for lethal. Delvers are great I mean it's a legacy card. I also really like Dizzy, you can splash 1 mountain and run 1 About Face, so now Dizzy finds either half of the combo or Shadow Rift. That's not the only way to build it ofc but this is how I like it, Dizzy makes it much more consistent. Another fine point, but Ash Barrens allows a turn 2 Tribe off an island start, whereas Lorien takes an extra turn because you fetch a tapland. As for the board I think Obsidian Acolyte is worth consideration if you struggle with black removal. I like 4 Dispel a lot too. Great to see more people playing this deck and hopefully it will start going places with the help of that Tunnel!

Unsure on the delver plan as you don't have too much protection for the delver to try and ride it to victory. I've already changed the deck to take out lorien as it is always just a land. You are never playing 5 to draw 3. Foresterf managed to come second in the challenge this Saturday which is cool. I think they were on Fallaji and Thraben not Hawk. Goes to show that the deck still has legs.

@@Kirblinxy Test em out and see what you think! The idea is not to rely on delver too heavily, but like I said they either work to bait out removal which would otherwise hit your tribe (bad day), get a bit of chip damage (1 delver hit = 17 life = 4 discards lethal vs 5 = you get to hold up logic knot), and in certain matchups like ponza or terrors they can carry pretty well because they come down before your opponent's interaction. And honestly I don't know how you could not want to run Squadron Hawks to insulate your tribes with edicts/blades so heavily played right now. Also great for stalling, and great with bstorm. Squawks are so good. I think you also really want Ash Barrens just to maintain the high island count for turn 1 ponders and still reliably find white sources, plus it's good for rebuying after brainstorm. I don't play on mtgo so no trophies to show, but I've played a LOT of this deck and those are my notes, take em or leave em :)

g1against black burn, why muddle instead of loran's escape to "counter" the soul reap?

Just not thinking about it long enough. I say that I do it because it costs the most mana, but not actually thinking that they only have sorcery speed removal, so if I do Loran I would have been fine. Game losing mistake on my part.

51:38 you couldnt have played the island and held up circular logic and dispel? doesnt it beat snuff out + counterspell as well as snuff out + spellstutter?

It doesn't beat Snuff plus stutter as they can just block with the stutter, which is why I played the Escape tunnel. They may not have seen that line though I was probably better holding up double counterspell.

@myndzi9926 Yeah, brain not working. So you can see why I made this mistake in the game. Need to play with the deck more than just once a month to iron out these mistakes 😅

Cool deck that I definitely want to try out. However 4 Circular seems a bit much, given that you only have Tribe as discard engine

Yeah really need at least one on the combo turn, so having 4 makes it easier to draw one. It is a little painful to cast at 3 mana, but when it's saving you from losing you don't really mind.

Why would you counter something that doesn't threaten your tribe?

@hendrikd2113 Like a glitters going on a creature threatening lethal. There isn't many things you would counter but at least it has the option
