I received this recital on dvd for Christmas. WOW! This selection and "Nebbie" were magnificent. Not that the rest weren't wonderful too. What a voice and interpretation! Thanks for sharing. I've listened over and over.

Che bella canzone! I once heard it sung beautifully by the great baritone Gino Bechi at a concert and never forgot it. A truly beautiful song and I just love the piano passages. Bravo Maestro! Riposa in pace.

This particular recital is my favorite of all the one's that have been recorded, not only because of James Levine and The Maestro's form that evening, but also because of the sound quality. I think it captured his richness and range like no other. There are clips here on KZfaq where the sound is somewhat "tinny", as in the Leone Magiera recital. Depending on the day, this may be my favorite piece of that evening.

I love this version. It is very touching to see Pavarotti and Jimmy Levine together and approaching this song with such loving care. There are inevitably comparisons with other singers alive and dead. Several worthy ones have been put forward, from my personal favorite Tito Gobbi, through Bocelli and Corelli, to name but a few. But any discussion of the best, IMHO, has to include GIGLI. Please listen and comment. While this version has over 23k views, Gigli's has only 76 at this time! Absurd.

Por no decir el mejor, creo q es uno de los mejores cantando ésta napolitana tan bonita. Aunque parezca más fácil q una aria, no es para nada fácil de cantar para un tenor. Aquí se aprecia el fraseo, el legato, la homogeneidad....todo. Aparte el señor Levine le acompaña magnificamente.

acitipo, lo que digo es que"en ésta canción el mejor es el Gran Maestro Franco Corelli" y "aún Luciano Pavarotti con su bella voz aquí no".; por lo que se desprénde que no se trata ni me refiero al timbre de voz, muy por el contrario; naturalmente, usted entendió mal, El bello timbre y voz de Pavarotti nadie la discute, lo fué siempre, pero hay interpretaciones que requieren gran pasión, sí lo tiene el Gran Maestro F.Corelli, además, de su bellisima y potente voz, aplicada magnificamente.

En esta canción, el mejor es el Gran Maestro Franco Corelli, luego Andrea Bocelli, 3° Tito Gobbi, después Luciano Pavarotti, aún con su bella voz aquí no le "funca".Saludos ...pieri..
