Shown in this video is a PAW 80 Classic from the late 1990's. It is of 0,8 c.c. (.049 c.i.) displacement. The "Classic" version PAW's are no longer made.
It is different to the standard PAW 80 in that it has cross flow porting with a single exhaust port, in this case oriented to the starboard side. As delivered the exhaust port faced to the rear.
It is pulling a Master Airscrew 8 x 4 propeller. The engine is timed and ported for high torque, low RPM application in vintage type F/F and R/C aircraft. After adjustment it throttles very well on the supplied PAW R/C carburettor.
Fuel composition: Equal parts Di-ethyl Ether, Castor Oil and Kerosene plus 1.5% Amsoil Diesel Cetane Boost.
Propeller: Master Airscrew 8 x 4.

Hello Fiery 🙂 I see You struggle with the same problem like many of us do when we have to adjust idle... You may use my solution since this is simple and straight forward... You will need two sizes of plastic tubing... One to go tight around screwdriver shaft and one plastic tubing outside this wich fit over the screw head... Now You can adjust steady like rocks without risk Your fingers 😊 (I have "some" experiences... 😥) PAW engines is btw well made and easy to handle and can be bought direct from factory... 🙂

Is the real RPM 8,400 with a two blade prop? I have a PAW 80 RC which I ran for the first time today on a 6x4 propeller and it doesn't seem to be revving as high as yours. It's a smooth running little engine and easy to start and handle, it just doesn't seem to be putting out as much power as I'd like. I was using D1000 fuel and have some 7x3 and 7x4 propellers on their way to try. I'm hoping to install it in a scale 33" span three channel biplane and am aiming for a weight of around 17 to 20 ounces.

The example shown has been very well set up and run in. Max performance as shown was just over 6,300 RPM, not 8,400. Small diesels can exhibit major variations in performance out-of-the box. A 6x4 prop is far too little load for the PAW 80.

@@fiery1962 thank you. I have a gummed up unthrottled 80 that I’m going to free up and run the same prop on as a comparison.

@@fiery1962 an update, the propeller I was using before was an 8 x 4, not a 6 x 4, which, given that my engine is a standard 80 and not a Classic 80, would explain why it was bogging down a bit. PAW recommend a maximum of a 7 x 4 on the standard 80. Unfortunately, I couldn't coerce the newly freed up 'spare' 80 to run, I'll be able to compare the performance of them against one another once I get it going. What fuel do you use in yours?

Nothing fancy. Equal parts of Di-ethyl Ether, Castor Oil and Kerosene plus 1.5% b/v Amsoil Diesel Cetane Boost.
