You think the guy who brought in his Pokemon collection might be dumb for lowballing himself in a Pawn Shop, but he was actually the smartest man on the show. He went into the most watched reality TV show on History Channel, flaunted his goods, and let everyone in America know what he had in his collection, all for the low price of free. After that he walked off with his Pokemon cards in hand and waited for the thousands of calls desperately wanting to make him a millionaire. Absolutely genius.

@@ridiculouslycoolguyMy guy pretty much everyone knows it is scripted but not in the way you think. A lot of the people come in with a cool item, the pawn guys ask if its tv worthy, and then they go from there. They actually make the offers have to be reasonable as well hence the amount of experts they have on standby. They dont want people who only want publicity. The people bringing the stuff in are obviously not actors and you can tell that by their awkwardness towards a camera.

( i say friend because i dont consider you an enemy. ) theres also rent to own merchandise, and check cashing outfits. all perfectly legal assloads of interest. they also have to sit on the item for a month or two . some places its 60 days, THEN an additional period of time until item sells. the second oldest profession in the world. retailwise you paid a dollar for an item youd try to get 2 definitions: price-fix·ing /ˈprīs ˌfiksiNG/ noun noun: price-fixing the maintaining of prices at a certain level by agreement between competing sellers. 2. price gouging informal•North American overcharge; swindle. "the airline ends up gouging the very passengers it is supposed to assist" second one is a matter of opinion. and sadly youd be incorrect/ there are pawnshops worldwide. i worked as a bench jeweler within a pawnshop for years. they have to maintain overhead ( building costs lights heat etc etc etc while they WAIT to sell an item. ) so thats why they usually pay half of retail. maybe less
