He often seems to bring in super expensive stuff that he knows a lot about but it always has one obvious (to someone who knows) detail that massively devalues it. You’d think someone who owned something like this and was looking to sell it would have a look into the coat of arms. That would be like someone trying to sell a King George VI era military uniform but it’s got the Queens’ crown on it opposed to the Kings’.

The seller knew all along that there was a possibility that the buttons didn’t belong to Antoinette as he offered zero argument when Rick schooled him. And to ask for 10 grand and settle for 3500 it’s quite obvious he paid even less, another telltale sign he suspected they were not what he originally claimed them to be.

The "necklace" wouldn't on it's own differentiate a post-restoration coat of arms from a pre-revolution arms. The French monarchy had already established the Order of the Holy Spirit and the Order of Saint Michael hundreds of years before the revolution. They were already incorporated into the Bourbon-Navarre armorial. If anything the center shield shape would differentiate it depending on if it was post-restoration Bourbon or if it was Orleans.

What does a poor person in 18th century France eat. How many meanings apply to the word: cake, most people should be able to come up with two. What is the origin of the second? However, the French version of this only has one meaning, so I do not believe it was a French phrase.

She most certainly did but it’s very often quoted out of context. As an angry hungry crowd was gathering at the gates of Versailles, it was decided to hand out bread but what was left at that moment was far from sufficient to feed everybody. When told, Marie-Antoinette allegedly said: Let them eat brioche too.
