I mean it's a pawn shop, that's how they make money. Other people have said it, the owner was probably just trying to advertise what he had. No practical reason he would take something worth so much, and wanted by many potential buyers, to be literally sold at a pawn shop

It was appraised at 250k and Rick offered 200k as an opening offer. That blew my mind. I was expecting him to offer 150k at most based on all the other clips I’ve seen.

He’s right that there was more than one suit made for the film. According to the late Christopher Reeve, there were about 25 of them made. Each one was for a different action, whether it was flying, walking, wire work, etc.

They usually sell for 100,000 but this one sold for 35,000, but a cape did sell a while back for 200,000 though. But it won't be worth a million for another 20 to 30 years.

I’d rather have the green crystal that formed the Fortress of Solitude. Seeing what that did was one of the coolest things I ever saw in a movie as a kid. It’d be the perfect set piece for a home, and that costume belongs in a museum.

Baring in mind the auction house would take a large sum of that so you go from 225k to 220k then you pay the taxes on that 220k so that would bring it down to just over or just under 200k this is why the buy price will always be so much lower

That's not how it works. I follow a channel with a guy that collects NES games, and he brought Nintendo World Championships on there. It's just reaility TV. You pay nothing and you get nothing except being on there, and publicity. The "store" they film at isn't even an actual store, it's a set and all the people walking around are extras.

well, smart is only as good as the next buyer.....who knows? He could put it in an auction and only get $230K for it..minus auction fees etc that would bring it down to $200K (maybe less). As Rick said: it's a gamble...what "should" happen doesn't always.....

When I was a kid in Los Angeles, every year my family would go to Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park. Every single time we went my favorite exhibit was Superman. This exact suit was on the wax figure. Very cool piece.

It’s not actually staged. I mean… if you go to the store in Vegas you won’t probably find Rick, Corey and Chumlee. What happens is that whenever someone has something very interesting that they want to put in the show, they’ll come and do the negotiation in front of the cameras.

Prices exist because scarcity exists and all prices are derived from supply versus demand. There are only a few Superman movie costumes in existence and this was from the first film which was the most iconic.

Superman is a franchise and this being from the first ever Superman movie will always have value, but this item is still one of a kind and will always be worth a premium since it is priceless. The original movie poster of Casablanca goes for $100,000, there are only 50-60 in existence and the movie is very old. Remember Rspsand07 prices exist because scarcity exists and all prices are derived from supply versus demand.

If he put it up on auction and got charged a 15% fee plus another 15% buyers premium and ends up selling for $250k, he'd only make $175k. Even if the buyers fee was dropped to 20% he'd walk away from $200k. So Rick offering up $200k was actually a really good deal to take
