As a hunter I have now started giving my kitties all the same things I am eating from the wild. Geese, ducks, grouse, dove, quail, rabbit, deer, elk, etc... They are in love with it and all tests have been coming back perfect from the vet! Super happy with all of it. We also feed whole chicks to them, sourced from wonderful local farms. Some people like to say "that's mean" and then go eat McDonald's. Maybe it's a bit tough to understand where animal products come from but it's a necessary part of life if you wish to have carnivores in your family or if you wish to consume animal products.

I feed my cats chicken hearts. One of my cats turns into a complete wild animal lol she starts growling like a wild cat. It's crazy and fun to watch 😀 she also loves to catch mice, she'll bring them in and put it in her food bowl lol

my cats are used to eating canned wet food and dry food from grocery store. but i like to surprise them once in a while w different foods. so far its just chicken broth. where do you get chicken hearts from? is it okay to get it from grocery store?

we raw fed our cat basically 85-90% different kind of meat and organs, 5% dairy products (not milk but yogurt etc for calcium), and 5% different kind of veggies (boiled carrots, greens etc) for digestion. we also gave calcium supplements and added fish, egg yolks once-twice a week. idk if it was a good diet but the cat lived 17 years

The Primal Pack that’s basically what I meant. But I was asking about how to add variety or do you just feed the “same” thing until that one product runs out. Like one week you feed quail as a main meat then the next week do you change it up or continue with quail. Sorry if this sounds dumb I’m trying to transfer my cat to raw and it’s hard to find good recourses that I trust.

Lmao what a crazy contradiction. Chances are if the eating of organ meats and lean meat is good for your cats health it will probably be good for yours too. A lot of people get health issues on a vegan diet longterm. Good luck.

Humans require a very similar diet, though, so if you’re feeding it to your cat, you might as well feed it to yourself. Veganism is almost always deteriorating to the body, not to mention completely unnatural. It would be quite contradictory if you accept the death of animals to feed your pet, but won’t eat animal products yourself. I’m not saying this as an agressive anti-vegan; I truly believe you could thrive more if you would incorporate meat, and especially organs into your diet.

@@Ruktiet Cats are obligate carnivores, while humans are omnivores which is very different. You can live a long and healthy life on a vegetarian or vegan diet as you can live nutritiously without meat. Just as someone who has meat in their diet can live nutritiously or need added supplements. I wouldn't argue that one thrives more than the other, but both may face different challenges. It really just comes down to your meal planning.

That is a lot of different animals, rabbit, bison, and I can't even tell what the other organs are besides the kidney. It would be good to do a vid on how you shop because I am totally lost. We are adopting a cat and he is coming in a few days and I've got my work cut out for myself. Good vid but maybe something more for beginnees who can barely cook for themselves.

it's not mandatory.. just stick with a wet food diet if you want a just as good diet for your cat. I would say dry food long term is bad for cats while raw food diet becomes expensive and time consuming I heard.

I would let that feeling go, if the world EVER gets set back 100 years( I know its not likely, BUT it could happen, or even if life changes like a loss of finances) you will have to go out and have to get your meat, not buy it.

@@PawsofPrey I know this is a super old comment, but how does Tangy eat the rabbit foot with the fur on it? Does he/she just swallow the fur too? Wouldn't that cause hairballs since it's so much fur? I'm a snake owner so I know where I can get all sorts of frozen, whole prey animals (rabbits, mice, rats, chicken, etc). I'm thinking about transitioning my cat to a raw diet, but I'm too scared to remove the skin off of a frozen thawed rabbit...my snake just swallow his prey whole so I never have to deal with that haha.

I can tell you right now that I have 2 cats that just might go for the fully raw diet and I have 2 other cats that would do their best to try and cover it up, packed their bags and leave my home for a home with Fancy Feast. I have been trying to get all 4 of my fluff-babies on the same menu page but after 2 years of trying it has been impossible. I admire those of you that have never given up.

😂 My cat was just like yours only wanting fancy feast before... But I started giving him bovine colostrum in powder form mixed in some water (for severe IBD) and a side effect was... He hopped up on my counter today and started eating the raw hamburger meat that we had thawing out for our dinner. 😂😂😂 So I decided that burger was his and put some in his bowl and he loves it!! It's a start but I'm so happy. He's 8 and he's finally getting back to his healthy self after a bad 4 months of IBD.

When I move out I will totally have my cats on a raw food diet, but right now I'm with my parents and it would take a lot of persuading to let me switch them. No rabbits feet for me though! I just successfully switched my cat to raw diet (tbh he took to it right away) and have been feeding him Darwin's (chicken, turkey, and lamb). I really want to get him to non-ground though. I brush his teeth daily (and it's a struggle) but I still think getting him to chew chunks and bones will be better. However, I live in the city (the only organ meat I've been finding in nearby stores is beef liver) and don't have that much time to prep. Have you considered making a business out of making and delivering these meals? Or do you know of anyone who does?

Diet isn't the only factor unfortunately. Genetics also play a huge part in their health as they age.

I raise rabbits and we frequently have to cull them. When we do this we usually give to the condor project or people who make dog food. I want to start to make it as well, and hopefully soon maybe I can get some experience from those people who make dog food.

Aw congratulations! Kittens should be allowed to eat as much as they want when they're young and growing. Usually it's around 10% of their body weight and split the meals up between 3-4 feedings, if that makes sense!

Since starting my cat on raw, I’ve noticed a hair thinning spot in front of his right ear with a slight pinkish tint on his skin. Do you think I’ll need to add/minus any certain ingredients? I can’t go to the vet as they aren’t for the raw diet :( my cat is a newly adopted stray from a shelter too, so perhaps he could need time adjusting to his new home? Thank you for all that you do!!

great job. very informative and helpful. i wanna start feeding my cat raw, homemade food. i saw some of these ingredients are quite expensive, but luckily, we have freezers that keep most ingredients fresh for a long time! and so i think it is worth the money. i saw many dry cat foods at local pet stores that are way more expensive. i'd just make these meals (only the meat part) and freeze them in and once i will feed my cat, i will take it out the freezer the day before, then add the other needed ingredients once not frozen anymore. i am just not so sure if i can find rabbit foot, spleen, and mussel powder though. is it okay if i add extra meat from another meat other than spleen? and use regular rabbit meat instead of a foot? and what if i replace the mussel powder with a bit of extra fish sauce? will that be okay?

I believe the rabbits foot was for a bone source so chicken necks, backs, feet, or wings could be alternatives. Spleen could be replaced with another organ like chicken, pork, or beef livers. And the mussel powder could be replaced with a manganese supplement (and if you wanted a glucosamine chondroitin supplement too for joint health).

Is Oyster required daily? Can I use Lite Iodized Salt instead of Kelp as an Iodine Source? (Love your videos a lot, most of the PMR recipes online don't mention more than the 83/7/5/5 ratio and fatty fish and egg yolk, so I REALLY like the consideration you've put regarding the nutrients and such)

Could you please make video about "daily supplement intake" for cat that's essential? Hello. THank you so much for all of your informative videos. I was wondering if you could do a video touching up on FIV+ cats and raw food. Maybe certain things to focus on (supplements to add to their food), and whether you find it safe. I have seen so much back and forth saying it's not okay to feed FIV cats raw food, and others saying they've fed their FIV cats raw their entire lives with no problems.

By sheer happenstance I've provided for my little lion a diet that consists of raw tuna, salmon and yellowtail & supplemented with sticky white rice &, his favorite, green tea creamy ice cream. For, a sushi joint opened up within walking distance of my place, and so it was only natural that I'd order take out on a habitual basis--sometimes sharing with little Nano, sometimes taking his own order. He likes the new diet so much he'a nary taken a bite out of his traditional foods ever since. Of course, it should be noted that one small side effect of this revolution in diet is that my cat is now a terrible driver--so slow and absentminded behind the wheel that I had to stop letting him drive as of a few weeks ago. On the other hand, his aptitude for mathematics and his capacity for crunching numbers has grown exponentially--so much so, in fact, that my fiance and I and both of our respective families have turned over our taxes to my two-year-old cat, who hammers them out proficiently and without flaw. I don't know if I ought to be taken aback by these changes in my cat's behavior or if they are typical for cats that are switched over to a raw diet?

If hypothetically one has access to whole prey items (I have a reptile specialty store in my area that supplies me with rats for my snake, they have access to quail and rabbit too) how would you recommend, if at all, preparing them for a cat's consumption?

I am super curious to know your opinion about adding supplement mixes to cats meal prep (usually recommended to be on the safe side to ensure they are getting everything) When I started looking into raw Feeding cats years ago and even now it's recommended by a lot to feed a supplement mix inclusive of: vitamin e, b complex, taurine, kelp (iodine) and chelated manganese. It's actually something I still do but am always researching to keep myself updated. I find feline nutrition on raw harder to source. We actually make 2kg batches with various proteins and everything else necessary plus whole eggs supplement mix and we rotate through sardines etc. Very curious on your thoughts of supplement mixes though 🤔

I give raw beef/chicken/lamb/horse every morning to my cats. At night just normal wet cat food and dry food in a dispenser is there if they want it. Will add more liver and eggs throughout the week. Thanks for this vid though 🥰

Question everything after the essentials (like the yogurt, fish oil, etc) are these needed to keep them alive and healthy or just a bonus? Because i want to add an egg 2 times a week but not everything. Also how do I know how much to feed my cat.

I feed my 8-month old kitten a raw egg yoke 2-3 times a week, mixed with some water to thin it out some. He is a light eater but He absolutely loves this. Is this bad for his diet? I feed him canned food as well as kibbles 50/50 otherwise.

Organic, super fresh eggs are great. But egg yolks contain much fat, so, maybe a whole yolk is a bit too much for a small kitten ? Do not hesitate to give cooked whites.

Hey! I've been doing a lot of research on feeding my cats a raw diet, but I'm kind of stuck at choosing an omega 3 source. I was going to go with green lipped mussel powder, but I'm also considering small fish oil. I'm having trouble figuring out how much is the correct amount of these supplements to give, because each package I read has a different dose. Also, if you feed a cat the recommended amount of oily fish per week, would they still need a daily omega 3 source?

If you're feeding a commerical product, just give the recommended daily dose. If you're feeding oily fish, you do not need to add in fish oil as well. You do need to add a bit more vitamin E though!

@@TazHall unfortunately I found out one of my kitties is allergic to seafood 😭 he always gets a rash on his chin and around his mouth when he has any sort of seafood product. I'm gonna have to find a seafood-free option for them. If you know of any that are safe for cats, I'd love to know! Thank you for your reply! :)

how often do you feed Persian cats raw food? is this combined with dry food? or only raw food diet is best? For example: do i prepare the raw food twice daily for seven days a week? while considering eggs is twice a week and fish is once a week? would this be an appropriate way to feed our Persian cats.

my cat is picky and prefers beef products and occasionally fish and chicken. I have been trying to feed her more meat from other animals but to no avail. She doesn't eat eggs too.

I want to eventually switch to raw diet for my kitten. But I’m worried to not have enough nutrient they need. Like prepare a batch already contain a lot of dif meat to provide that nutrient, how would you have enough variety to switch around without making the cat bored like eating the same thing? I also seen some video people use canned sardine for flavour and fish oil wouldn’t these cans have salt in it?

Hi, I don’t have the freezer space to do proper meal preps, so I was thinking of feeding a high quality complete commercial wet food like ziwipeak, feline natural or zealandia for breakfast and feeding raw for dinner. Since my wet food is complete, is it fine for the raw portion to be unbalanced? I want to use the raw meal primarily to introduce a variety of textures and get her to chew since the wet foods are all in pate style. Also if I do this, are there certain cuts or parts that I should not feed to prevent overdosing on certain vitamins and minerals, or are there certain parts which I should definitely feed to be safe?

"is it fine for the raw portion to be unbalanced?" No. Unbalanced food (homemade or canned food, doesn't matter) should not exceed 10% of the total ration, and even then, not every day. Considering, it is logical. Raw food takes one third of my freezer ! I had to buy a larger one because of that ... I make Dr Lisa Pierson's recipe (catinfo.org) for one month. Since my cats eat grinded raw food, and canned food, they will never eat a whole chicken wing. that is strange enough, because they eat their preys...

Hi, my kitties are 9 months and 6 months old. I would like to start giving them small quantities of raw meat and try switching them to raw once they're at least one year old. For the moment, can they eat chicken neck/wings/feet or are they still too young? I would like them to eat some meaty bones for their dental health but I'm afraid they might choke on the bones, especially the 6 month old

My cat is always hungry. even when he was neutered, they told me to cut his food in half to avoid him gaining too much weight. But all he does is cry for food every second of the day. I saw videos about raw food diet and was thinking of doing it for my dog and cat because right now I cannot feed the dog when the cat is around because he'll try to eat her food. I am starting to think maybe a raw diet will give him all he needs so he feels satisfied? at least to the point where he is not constantly begging for food. I feel so bad all the time and just want to feed him but I know it's not a good idea. I think i need to look for more videos on how people shop for their pets on the raw diet. Because I don't know what half the things in the video are or where i can get them lol. Thank you tho for the information!

@Samnetta Nah if your cat is begging for food I would feed him. It’s not good for cats to starve. Maybe try wet canned until you can get him on raw or try feeding him large meals twice a day. It’s very important that cats get their calories needed daily. I would put him on a feeding schedule and feed till satisfied within an hour timeframe. Maybe this helps, good luck 🍀
