I thought you would show us replacing a cracked glass screen but you stopped before that. Why?
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
Because that's as far as you need to be shown to replace your screen. You'r best bet is to find a screen assembly that comes pre-attached to the midframe so at that point you can put your board and such in and reverse the process. However if you want to replace the screen alone, then all you need to do at the end of the disassembly shown, is just heat and pry off the broken screen, I mean its pretty self explanatory. Then you apply new adhesive and put the new screen on the frame and reverse the process. If you find that difficult to do, then your better off taking it somewhere that is experienced to do it. A lot of people always think these phones are like phones back in the day that you can just replace the glass, no you can't. People need to get that idea out of their heads. Screens now a days are made so thin that they are fused to the glass to give it extra support if not for other reasons but glass alone is not replaceable. Yes they sell glass parts online for cheap but its only meant for factories or people who have the machines that can defuse the glass off the screen and apply a new one. Without special machines, tools, and experience its impossible to be done. You have a 95% chance of breaking the screen trying to pry the glass off it, yet alone even be able to peel the glue off the screen to apply new adhesive to fuse back on a new glass. Plus you need a dust proof environment. I will pin this comment so others can see because I get asked all the time why people cant just order the glass and replace that because its so much cheaper. :) Hope this info helps answer your question.

@@PBKreviews Thanks and I agree! Very nice demo. One issue is that the device you've shown is a Sprint device. The Verizon version uses different antenna's and there are not slots in the Sprint version for the Verizon antenna - in fact, they are filled with plastic. Nice one for this guide! I finally decided to replace cracked front screen myself (I replaced the battery awhile back and that was easy enough using this video). The front digitizer screen was similar to removing back ,just heated up edge of screen until glue soft then slide apart gently with a very thin flat plastic tool that came with new screen. Carefully cleaned old glue away then applied new glue strips that also came with new digitizer screen and voila my phone is brand new :)

Hey, my phone fell off the floor with the screen facing down, and now it won't boot. Instead, it shows a "?" sign. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened; the tech assistance team reactivated the battery the last time. What I want to know is whether I need to apply adhesive glue to the back glass after I open it up and plug-unplug the battery connector. I have another question regarding battery reactivation. Is it sufficient to reactivate the battery by simply unplugging and plugging back in the battery cable hook, or is there another process involved? Nice video!

Hi, it's not too easy to find, usually comes with screen assembly replacements. Here is a link to one but I have never bought from this website so I can't vouch for it: www.tokopedia.com/multhiez/lg-v50-heatpipe-vacumchamber? . Worst case scenario, you can try using some copper tape/film and apply it to the frame where the heatpipe should be, and add thermal paste on top of it (non conductive thermal paste) so you can have a means of heat transfer.

I've recently changed my frame and my LCD, and the copper seems different from the original one. Now, the idle temperature showing from the CPU Monitor is 55°C to 60°C. Should I put a thermal paste on both sides and under the thermal pad to improve the idle temp? Thanks again!
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 3 жыл бұрын
It would probably need thermal paste between the processor and thermal pad, but not between the copper and thermal pad. And its possible the copper heat pipe is aftermarket on the replacement you got and not as thick or efficient as your original. You can always try to gently pry off your original without damaging it and use that on the new frame.

To clarify, with removing the battery on this phone did they use that permanent adhesive that they did with the G8? And do you have to remove the board and all of that to be able to remove the battery? I watched jerryrigeverything's teardown of the g8 and was really hoping they didnt do the same thing with the battery
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 5 жыл бұрын
Its not really permanent, its just a strong adhesive and does not have a user removable battery tab to pull off. Doesn't mean the G8 battery and V50 battery can't be removed and replaced. I removed the G8 battery in my teardown of the LG G8 and same with the V50. Yes they didn't use the easier pull straps for the adhesive on both phones and the adhesive is stronger but it is removable you just need to carefully pry it off with non metal tools. Also yes its best to remove the main board and such so you have access to the openings around the battery to insert pry tools and work on removing the batteries. Always remember take your time so you don't bend and damage the battery causing a short etc. But one good thing with these adhesives are they are reusable so you don't need to re-apply new adhesive for a new battery you can just use the same one. Hope this helps.

You have to remove the back plate and the top plastic cover over the motherboard to disconnect the battery cable. At that point you can apply heat with a hair dryer or heat gun to the front of the phone where the screen is to gradually heat up the adhesive underneath the battery to loosen it up. Then you can pry the battery off. It's easier if you remove the main board as well since it gives you more room to work with but its not required.

My lg v50 keep shutting down when the phone gets hot (65℃ above), is it because my phone doesn't have vapor chamber or i need to change my thermal pad? (I never open my phone so i need some advice before open it up)
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 2 жыл бұрын
The phone standard comes with a copper vapor chamber/heat pipe unless you replaced the screen and did not transfer it over from the previous frame. If it doesn't have it, then yea that would be the cause of the over heating. If it does, its possible your thermal pad has worn out or needs replacing. You can use another thermal pad of the same thickness or use thermal paste.

So I came here to figure out why my phones speaker stopped working after i went to get my screen fixed, which they fixed, but then realized as you were removing the cable near the speaker that I don't have that cable there. Could that be the issue on why my speakers stopped working? or could it be something else?
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 2 жыл бұрын
Depends which cable you are referring to. There is one that goes over the speaker assembly on top and that is for the connector points on the back of the phone and there is a cable with is attached to the speaker underneath the assembly which has two gold points which need to touch the gold pins on the sub board/charger port board to get signal. So make sure its screwed down in place correctly, and that those 2 pins are not bent or damaged etc.

oh that sucks. Yea not sure why they glue it down so strong (only thing I can think of is they worry over time heat would loosen the adhesive?), or at least if they had a metal plate covering the entire back would be good as well to help prevent possible damage to the screen when prying off.

PBKreviews need your advice plz I am planning to buy a sturdy phone I am comparing between 1-lg v60 and 2-samsung xcover pro Which is more sturdy? Both have same grades of sturdiness.. Is the lg v60 solid enough? Which is more robust from the internals ? Does LG have service centers for mobile phones like APPLE and Samsung ?
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
@@amrashraf9559 The xcover pro is definitely a more rugged phone, meaning it will last against falls and drops and such, where as the v60 wont since the screen can break as well as the back glass and the housing can get damaged. The xcover pro has a rubberized housing that will not get damaged easily nor will the back break or the screen get damaged easily. But the v60 is a aluminum solid device but it can still get dings n dents in the frame if you drop it. Not sure of LG service centers but I am sure they have a mail in service of some sort.

@@amrashraf9559 no because removing a working screen will probably damage it and make it useless. @PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there are two, one on bottom of the phone next to the charger port and one on the top corner. They are the gold square/rectangular pieces. The secondary mic on top would probably be the one which you would need to take a look at. The mics have a small hole on the frame of the phone like a sim eject hole. Make sure those are clean and not obstructed or clogged. Use a small brush or tooth brush to clean them out if they are. Also its possible something might be stuck in your headphone jack or it might have gotten water in there and is shorting making the phone think there is a headphone plugged in at all times. If something is stuck in there, you would need to remove it. If its gone bad you would need to replace the headphone jack. The mics rarely go bad.
