It’s funny ya know… as a kid from Toronto.. the hometown of RUSH… the band has been overlooked for yrs by publications and many like your old boss .. but the Humble Progressive Power Trio has filled arenas for decades and been immortalized by the music intelligentsia … the immense amount of talent these gents have and the astonishing amount of music they left us over 1/2 a century solidifies their place in music history as one of those artists that changed music… and we are very proud as Canadians we have this masterpiece called RUSH to share with the world…

We might not have been able to spot life on planets far away because they're so distant that what we see is like looking back in time. It's similar to how the idea/theory of alien civilizations haven't found us yet because from their viewpoint, Earth might just look like a gaseous ball of fire, because of the time it takes for light to travel from here to them.

If we found a planet that had living creatures with a culture similar to the earths dark ages and we had the tech to study this place, do you honestly believe we or any other intelligent being wouldn't be extremely interested in their development!? Now, imagine these craft have visited earth for hundreds or thousands or possibly millions of years, which isn't impossible in light of our estimated age of the universe, don't you think being able to monitor the earth's evolution and creation of new species and versions of living, potentially self conscious beings is something they and we wouldn't want to do as well if we had the chance? C'mon... To the ET's visiting us, we Humans must appear to them like this amazonian tribe that's still disconnected from our civilization, which kills and is hostile to any outsiders, appears to us.

If we are searching for life that is like our own we better hope we don't find it. You know vanity is not very kind the things it does not understand or to things that seem hostile. The wasp maybe my friend but not when it bites. Mankind has insecticide sprays which do away with Wasps and that's before we even talk to them. Man knd did not survive from its most desperate beginnings by being kind to everything. So if we find life somewhere that is like our own, well you had better be very careful.

The chance of other intelligent life in the universe concurrently existing--not having blown itself up--is expressed by the Drake equation, which he cobbled up with Karl Sagan. It involves a product of (multiplied-together) factors, most of which are probabilities. A characteristic of such equations is that if one factor goes to zero, the whole equation goes to zero. Is such a risk in the Drake equation? Yes. The 4th factor (variable) is the chance of general life being available at a location. This requires not only existing life further developing but also life coming from non-life. Called abiogenesis. No one has yet come with a plausible pathway for abiogenesis, from a non-biotic world. See James Tour. The odds against are horrific. In terms of one chance in X number, purely mechanical abiogenesis has an X that is far, far, far bigger than all the subatomic particles in the universe, even if we include possible dark matter in that number. In other words, the value of the Drake Equation's 4th variable is effectively zero. Making the Drake Equation itself's number be zero, even before considering the additional challenging factor of sentience. Even if the star is stable, without solar flares. Even if a planet of appropriate size exists in a stable Goldilocks-zone orbit. Even if the planet is far enough away from the star to reduce tidal forces to where volcanic activity is minimal. Even if all other factors are ideal. Still zero. No matter how many stars and planets exist. Sorry. A vast, wonderfully fascinating universe is out there. But an intellectually honest inspection of the situation--without the conceptual ducking out that I have previously seen in researchers--leads to zero optimism. UNLESS something other than a purely mechanical abiogenesis has happened. But that possibility is very controversial. Toward ultimate answers, beyond the regress of panspermia, one has to contemplate nature-external intrusive help. Help from some kind of creator deity. The only optimistic yet still intellectually honest SETI research has to contemplate a theistically produced abiogenesis. This requirement freaks out most scientists. For obvious reasons. But, let's explore...

People who are not educated on the topic will not understand how lucky we are. They are super optimistic. Going deep into the biology, people shall realize that we are just from a chain of rare rare rare rare events. Unbroken chain of life for 3.8 billion years in a violent universe is just a prerequisite that dont guarantee you super intelligent life. Additionally, having super intelligence is not a must throughout earth history. There have been many many many species existed on earth and showed no significant intelligence like us. Scientists who are optimistic and spreading false hope on TV are doing it for views

@@negrildoc I believe it is a planned and deliberate attempt to layer society, so the ignorant plebeians are so distracted with their entertainments and bread and circus that they never notice that power isn’t equally and reasonably distributed. In the UK there used to be a few places available in state schools that selected according to ability, they offered a very similar standard of education to that provided by the privately funded schools. Since the 1970s, one by one, they’ve been closing these schools, such that there are only a handful left. The government only wants a few of its citizens to be fully educated, the progeny of the elite.

Imagine each of 360 degrees out radially from the center of our Galaxy...how many Advanced (say local solar system travel or better) Civilizations exist on each 1 degree wide pie slices that are roughly 50000 light years long ...pessimistically 1...maybe 10...more likely 100, maybe even 1000 (maybe every 50 light YEARS apart). Yet we are very far apart even at 4.2 or 4.3 light years as we are from Proxima and Alpha Centauri. If we could make a Spaceship that could travel at 186 Miles per second or 300 km per second...1/1000 the speed of light and several times faster than any big rocket we have deployed so far, it'd still take 4200-4300 years ONE WAY to get to our closest STELLAR Neighbors. So at least 100 generations of Travel in 1 direction! So they can be THERE yet we'll probably never get to them! Nor would they come to us unless they could travel at close to the speed of light. Sobering and yet a good design by God!

More science light; which is to say mostly just bad science fiction. This used to be a great channel and many of the explanations and expositions aired here about some extremely difficult and mathematically demanding topics have been exceptionally good, particularly if like me you have at least some familiarity with those problems. The worst of these problems however is that there's really been almost no significant progress whatsoever in our understanding of any of the 5 foundational problems of physics for at least 30 years. 1. The problem of quantum gravity: Combine general relativity and quantum theory into a single theory that can claim to be the complete theory of nature. 2. The foundational problems of quantum mechanics: Resolve the problems in the foundations of quantum mechanics, either by making sense of the theory as it stands or by inventing a new theory that does make sense. 3. The unification of particles and forces: Determine whether or not the various particles and forces can be unified in a theory that explains them all as manifestations of a single, fundamental entity. 4. The tuning problem: Explain how the values of the free constants in the standard model of particle physics are chosen in nature. 5. The problem of cosmological mysteries: Explain dark matter and dark energy. Or, if they don't exist, determine how and why gravity is modified on large scales. More generally, explain why the constants of the standard model of cosmology, including the dark energy, have the values they do. As for life, (and presumably sometimes intelligence,) existing elsewhere in the universe statistically it seems highly probable, but have be ever received the slightest indication that it actually exists such as some kind of intelligible signal, the answer is no.

We are alone for now because we are like an ant in a football field. The universe is so far that it's unlimited to us with our present technology. The universe is estimated to be 13.7 billions years old, toward us is old but compared to the universe, millions and billions years is normal. So we see the universe as very old but to universe, it's young therefore, we might be the first intelligent species that is why we are alone. We better hope that we are alone because what our scientists did sending out to space the blue print of our biology and earth's location can be danger for humanity if the information fall into the hand of a violent alien, it will be the end of humanity. We can see it in our own human history how the strong conquered the weak. It is the most carelessness thing our scientists did. (When you are over confidence, you become a "smartass")

This cry of our loneliness in the universe almost feels really pathetic until you realize that no one really takes that to heart. But there is an even more pathetic situation. Here we are calling out to the universe looking to get a heartwarming response, but there is great king in the heavens calling out to man saying, "Come to me all ye that labor and heavy laden and I will give you rest" Matt 11:28. Many especially among the scientific community do ignore this call to a relationship with God and His myriads of holy angels through the atoning blood of Jesus. Little do men realize that it is the goodness of God that is preventing dangerous fallen angels from responding to SETI calls. MAN REJECTING CALLS FROM GOD AND HIS HOLY FAMILY OF ANGELS AND SAINTS AND REACHING OUT TO A DANGEROUS UNKNOWN? ITS ABSURD! God is also lamenting that men are not answering His calls. Hear Him in Proverbs chapter 1:24-33
