Brings back memories of the two summers that I worked at Jessop Steel. I will always remember the sight and sound of the electric furnace!

I almost took a job there on the DRAP line. I backed out because a former manager contacted me and warned me about a certain plant manager who was the yell, scream and kick trash cans type of manager. I still debate whether I should have gone to work there despite the fact that the facility ultimately did closed down.

I worked security there during the DRAP construction. Still remember the day a construction worker got killed there is a pretty gruesome manner. I always figured the guys down in refractory has a sweet job. For the most part they sat around unless there was a ladle burn through and the occasional ladle reline. For the most part they had a big pit BBQ going on down there on most days.

Is this plant still open? I sure hope it is

In 2004 it was bought by Allegheny Technologies. In 2015 they locked the workers out for 7 months. A new contract was signed and they closed this plant down. In November of 2017, the DRAP line was reopened. The rest of the plant remains idle. I work in this plant. I had 16 years in the melt shop/caster, now I work in the DRAP.
