hi !! have you got any videos on genetic screening? its not in your playlist for topic 8 so i was curious if you've made a video on it yet because i have a paper 2 exam tomorrow! thank you in advance! and also these videos have been really helpful and are some of the best a level videos i've found for biology - if not THE best!! i've already recommended you to my friends at school! thank you so much for these videos!!

Aww thank you Georgia, that is so kind of you to say. Really glad that they are helping you so much. I have just looked through and I don't actually have a detailed video on this, it is only briefly mentioned in the gel electrophoresis video. I'll make this video next, but unfortunately not before your exam tomorrow. Best of luck with the exam!

if you were to amplify a single strand of DNA instead of a double strand (such as a DNA probe), would that produce single or double stranded DNA?

Does taq polymerase catalyse the condensation reaction to form phosphodiester bonds? Between nucleotides? Or for H+ bonds between complementary base pairs?
@MissEstruchBiology
@MissEstruchBiology 3 жыл бұрын
Hello It's catalysing the formation of phosphodiester bonds, making the polymer chains (polymerase). Hope that helps 😊

I’m confused. How are the DNA fragments isolated? And do you need to cut out DNA fragments before PCR? I thought u can have a long dna strand and use primers to only amplify the sections that you want
@MissEstruchBiology

Hello Here is my video on how to isolated DNA fragments. There are many applications of PCR, but you would put in the DNA fragment of interest and the primer into enable DNA polymerase to attach.

Is this the same as the Sangers method because I’m so confused whether they are the same or different
@MissEstruchBiology

Hello This is different to the Sanger method, but that isn't on the AQA specification anymore.
