The following free software was used to create the g-code:
Inkscape inkscape.org/
Fusion 360 www.autodesk.co.uk/products/f...
OpenBuilds Cam software.openbuilds.com/
This process works well for me but there are other ways and software to do this with.
If you just need the DXF files then this process will work as well. Just miss out on the last step using the CAM software.
This process can be used on different types of CNC machines such as laser cutter, milling, routing and plasma cutters.

Fusion360 has a nesting functionality that can help you automatically arrange your parts in the stock. Comes in handy when doing large sets of different parts :-)

What can you do if the PDF is just an embedded image and wont ungroup into different components?

You can import the image. Have a look at this video where I import an image into Fusion 360 and then create a DXF from it kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qddnd8monNbQqqs.htmlsi=vZc_J3fM62kejy2t
