Doug Copley's Lineside Images
'Doug Copley's Lineside Images' are 68 titles filmed 1980's, 1990's & 2000's variously 12-90 minutes long. They come with Doug's own commentary and tend to follow lines of route, or particular workings, filmed over multiple return visits.
Doug's videos often include interludes of impressively vocal bird song!
In Alfred Hitchcock (filmmaker) style, Doug occasionally makes brief cameo appearances in his own films.

Doug gave annual shows to Peak Rail Sheffield Branch. When he died in 2008 his films were kindly made available to the Peak Railway
Association by his family so that appreciative enthusiasts can continue to enjoy his work in his memory.

During his working life as a steelworks commissioning engineer he travelled extensively and the collection includes South America, South Africa, India, Turkey (steam), and Australia. The UK collection includes many secondary lines, and also industrial railways. A treasure trove.

Doug takes us on a trip from Cleethorpes to Lincoln calling in for an extended stop at the Royal Grimsby Docks. Doug stops off at various places along the way calling in at signal boxes and spots staff at work.

Superb video ,incredible that steel billets went abroad to be rolled then re-imported surely we could have done that here ?

1990 was quite late for Super 8 film to be used (shunting sequence). I last shot it in about '96, but most people had gone to video long before. Some invaluable footage here.

Shame the narrator cannot pronounce Habrough correctly.

Yes, being Lincolnshire born and bred, the pronunciation of Habrough does grate a little. However, it does not detract from a wonderful film which brings back many memories. I particularly liked the interior shots of the signalmen at work, so often a forgotten part of the railway scene.
