Absolutely brilliant finds folks, that fantastic hand cannon must be one of the earliest known examples. Glen you’re going to give me a heart attack whacking stuff with that axe 😂 mind you I bet you nearly had one yourself when Rusty saw it was a grenade 😮. ❤

Glen , That's not a bent chisel , They call it the edging chisel , See how the hammer only hit one side of the head , Used for edging old stone & brick wall buildings , Looks like it needs sharpening , That could be a keeper

Just after the "check your crud" on the video Glen pulled out something he didn't recognise but I do. It's a weight used on a circular sock knitting machine. It dates back to the late 1800 or early 1900s. As the sock is knitted it needs a clamp with weights hung on to pull the sock down.

Hi robyn x If you go to the very end of the video called the finds section you'll see where we have researched our items and found it was a hosiery weight x

I did watch it all and had my heart in mouth when you found that grenade after hitting the box. I have such a sock knitting machine as you showed on the video. The weights aren't easy to find these days so will be sought after by some enthusiastic person. If you'd like to know and see more, there's a "cranking session" in March at a Leicestershire hotel, where people get together and buy/sell items for these machines. My daughter who lives near you in Eastern Ave can supply you with details if you're interested.

@@PeakyDippers I love learning about the history. In the US sock knitting machines were given by the Red Cross to households during WW1 so that citizens could help with the war effort by making wool socks for soldiers to prevent trench foot. Not sure if the UK had any similar programs.

I can date the old can of double diamond quite precisely, as I was buying them from the offie as a 16 year old in 1970. Also, if you notice, both the new decimal and imperial sizes/quantities is printed on the can, the first real sign of shrinkflation, as there is no longer a pint can, but the smaller metric version, easier to reduce in size..

The proper name for the tool you showed that you said were used for removing the nails from horses shoes and cleaning out the foot is PLIERS. Also widely used by carpenters, I'm positive as my grandad was a carpenter, who's career ended when he fell off the scaffolding and broke his hip and was unable to continue, so he became...guess what?... a cobbler, he lived in a little village just outside Preston called Penwortham, I'm talking 1930, and I remember in the late 50s playing on his handmade toolchest in the back yard, and he had about 3 or4 of them. He also had a 4 footed shoe last, I'm 69, and it's in my dining room 😂
