A peanut lighter is a great option for survival, EDC or in a Bug Out Bag. It has replaceable flints (Zippo Brand works great) has the ability to use multiple fuels and is solidly made to last for years. I highly recommend looking into this great lighter for your fire needs!

Like many of you, I like having various means of fire starting at my disposal. The Peanut Lighter is one of those options. It's well made, easy to use and re-fill and is so small that it makes a great EDC companion. Thank you for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below!

Those are awesome lighters. My peanut lighter will carry the fluid for several months at least without going empty. In fact I have never had it go empty. I just refill whenever I think about it every couple of months or so. I keep it in my shirt pocket just for emergencies only.

Great video. I haven't seen that zippo fuel canister, but well worth it if it holds fuel for a few years. I have one of those peanut lighters, not sure if it's the same one as yours, but it is VERY well made. I got it as a stocking stuffer for Christmas in 2007 I think, and I filled it up and played with it like we always do, and then put it away. I pulled it out later the next year and sure enough it fired right up. I started testing it every Christmas and 4th of July and and left it sealed the rest of the year and each time it fired right up and never lost any fuel, and I did this up until Sept 2013 when I moved south and now I haven't checked it as it's packed away some where. I should dig it out and see if it still will light after one filling on Christmas day 13 years ago. Keep up the great work.

The Zippo Fuel Canister would be a handy item to carry some denatured alcohol in for use in any of the warming trays of camping stoves , like the whisper light stoves. I know they say to use white gas but alcohol does not soot up the units like white gas does , when used as a warming agent. As far as the lighter , lighters eventually run out of fuel ( use or evaporation ) , flints or will not work when wet. A good Fero Rod works every time. For a really stubborn wood use some alcohol ( Zippo fuel canister ) and then sparks from the rod to get it burning. Didn't know about the Zippo Fuel Canisters but one will be a part of my gear.

Most peanut lighters I've seen come with a brass fuel canister as well. Why use the Zippo fuel canister?(I will admit the Zippo canister dispensing nozzle is better than a wide open top, as the included fuel canisters have)

Because it's helpful to have extra fuel in a survival situation.

Seems like a great little piece to have on you when out in the wilderness. Do you prefer the peanut over other strikers like flint and magnesium? How long would a peanut lighter last with a refill if you were stranded somewhere for along time? Just curious. Thanks for sharing the valuable information.
@WayPointSurvival
@WayPointSurvival 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your questions. I would prefer a flint and steel or a ferrocerium rod for long term. But in a survival situation, instant flame is always best. I don't know how long it would last when full as it depends on how long you let it burn each time. In a perfect scenario, probably 20 - 30 fires. I like it because it's small, packs easily and uses multiple fuels if needed, just like a Zippo.

Another great video!!!! Just fyi the same company which makess the lighter for Maratac makes three models of the same lighter. I bought 5 of their model 2 for $0.01 (yes... One penny each) with $4.95 s&h. I earlier had bought 5 Nanostriker XL (the same as Exotac but without thelr trademark) for $0.85 each again with $4.95 s&h. The Nanostrikers are the same and use the same refill kit as the one selling for$29.95.....I thought i got two pretty good deals. Check ot a web site called wish.com.

Honestly, it's ablity to use Zippo flints is irrelevant. Since Zippo now owns Ronson, and nearly every other lighter used the exact same flints(bic's are a source of extra long flints.) Lighter flints(actually small ferrocerium rods) have long since been a standardized diameter.

I do believe that Zippo flints are superior to the knockoff brands.

Got tired of refilling my Zippo every 3 weeks so I got a peanut lighter and upgraded to a thicker O ring. I get about 3 months before it evaporates but honestly I don't use it all. Nice addition to my mini fero rod and ranger band on my key chain. Tried the metal match but found the wick burns off in no time. You mention it takes multiple fuels or did you mean refillable?
