Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony held 81 years after attack

A ceremony is held to honor the 2,403 lives lost and the legacy of the soldiers who defended America during World War II, from the opening battle of December 7, 1941, until peace was secured on Sept. 2, 1945. The ceremony is a tribute to the courage, service, and sacrifice of our Greatest Generation.

Those killed in the attack, and those veterans still living today, are heroes of the highest order.

My wife and I visited Pearl harbor this year. It was a very moving experience for me as the son of a WW2 Navy veteran. I'm not sure some of the other tourists understood where they were. The sailors who operated the launch to the Arizona were very sharp and represented the Navy well.

My husband and I went to the Pearl Harbor memorial site on our honeymoon in 2018; it brought me to tears seeing what happened and realizing how close to my family’s home this was. My grandma grew up in Kaneohe and was just a child when this happened! Much respect and condolences for those who lost loved ones during this historic event

Not all of us. Just something my father instilled in me over 50 years ago. I tried to do the same for my sons. We might forgive, but we can never forget.
