I'm not a Cubs fans but this song is so beautiful. How can you not be romantic about baseball. The 2015-2016 Cubs were a fun team to watch.

I am a flight attendant and in 1986 when he became Jose became a scout, I had him on my flight. I was so excited as a life long Cub fan but told him that it is a "pleasure to meet you Mr. Ivan De jesuse. He looked and me and with out skipping a beat and said same country... wrong team. I was so embarrassed. He asked me who my favorite cubbie was and I told him of course for sure you now because I messed it up in the heat of the moment. He asked me who my real favorite was and I said Ryne Sandberg. He asked me for my address and I gave it to him. Within a week I had 2 balls signed by him and Sandberg. What a class act. Last night after having them for thirty years, I held them and rubbed them for good luck. What a night it was.

The song that all Cubs fans held deep in their hearts through all the years of losing. The constant "next years", the mounting record since 1908, and all of the loved ones who never got to see this day. That's why Eddie cried, Bill Murray cried, all of the fans cried that night.

Oh my gosh, when Eddie Vedder started naming the Cubs players that he loved when he was a kid, Jose Cardenal in right, and Billy Williams in left, Don Kessinger at short, Ron Santo at third, Randy Hundley at catcher.....that brought back memories. That's the time I started loving the Cubs.

A spiritual moment if I ever knew...

I grew up in the same era and my favorite players were Jose Cardenal and Rick Reuschel. They were appearing at the neighborhood car dealership, Fencl tufo Chevrolet, and I wanted badly to go see them. My parents were late arriving home from work and it was a driving rainstorm, rather than miss the opportunity I took my bicycle without permission. I recall Rick Reuschel asking what happened to me because I was soaking wet. I still have the Polaroid picture. Can't believe the Cubs finally did it.!

Oh, yeah ... THEY DID ... for you and me, for Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ron Santo and so many heroes over the years who almost made it. Vicariously, we have now ALL made it. I thought most of my loyalties had gravitated toward the 3-Cup Blackhawks. However (though I still love them and resent Gary Bettman's salary cap era which has trimmed a would-be 5 Cups into 3) when the Cubbies recorded the last out in Game 7. My entire family group hugged as we sunk to the floor in a pool of happy tears which washed away the disappointments of 1969, 1984, 1989, 1998, 2003 and 2007!!!!!!!!!!!
