It's amazing how these people are witnessing a show with songs that would be forever etched in rock music's legacy... and they have no clue.

Allen Vrabac Typical youtube dick comment. What are you babbling about..., the crowd was cool enough to check out an unknown band. I bet they enjoyed the set as well and bought the record when it came out. They can say they were there and all you can comment on is about how clueless they were. Apparently they were not.
@allenvrabac4827

TrixiLovesYou You are reading it completely wrong, skewing the tone of my sentence. I bet the lot of them liked it, I'm just saying how huge they later became to be and yet these people are witnessing them in their infant stage of infamy, bands from "around the block" so to speak. Just a fascinating perspective, nothing negative about it.

LOL @ 46:33 you can see some stage diver get caught in Layne's cord and rips the mic out of his hands. Then Layne skillfully reels it back in and nails the next verse like a fucking badass! XD

Truth 💯. That's the only reason I put Layne staley over Maynard Keenan and Scott weiland. Though their voices are amazing, they had songs I didn't care much for. Every Layne staley song is a classic to me. I loved aic but that song lifeless dead in mad season was the best song staley touched, that song was made for him the way he screams in that mic and that song I don't know anything with mckreadys guitar eargasm

Lol.. yes, I absolutely agree. I am forever stuck in the '90s music. I was born in 1964 so the same age as most of these guys. Saw them at small venues way back in the day actually about this time of this video. Originally from Houston and there are some really cool small seater venues on lower Westheimer right before you go actual downtown. There's an area e called The Curve which is exactly what it is it's where Westheimer curves. Lots of cool bars and shops. Great night life. Saw Pearl Jam at The Vatican which is now called The Abyss. Saw L7 and Henry Rollins same place. Got to see Hole at a place called #s (Numbers)... it was their second album came out that broke them mainstream. God she was so messed up and was walking around the back alleys. They said it took like several shots of whiskey to get her straight enough to perform. It was Halloween night probably in 1993 guessing. They didn't get on stage until after midnight. We were afraid they were going to cancel the show. It was definitely worth the wait though.

Just an off hand observation. Layne headbanging and then going right into vocals & Jerry headbanging and playing guitar at the same time. I've done some headbanging at concerts, and just staying upright is hard, as you get a bit disoriented (ive fallen over!). So the fact these 2 are able to do what they do while flailing around, is EPIC.

Mookie Blaylock sounded like a soft muted instrumental version of Clapton's short recording of "Cocaine". AIC is so smoking hot! Layne is so much alive and takes Jerry's ultra cool riffs to an upper level trip.The power of Layne's vocals are beyond paranormal/ supernatural.The audience truly saw the beginning of the Grunge Kings. Genius before fame.

Amazing how both these bands went on to worldwide success and were both part of such a big shift in rock and roll and popular/influential music,that has stood the test of time. What a pity about Layne Staley though...drugs are such terrible things.

Wow…it’s really interesting to hear AIC play Dirt so long before they even recorded the record. This was over a year before the recording sessions for Dirt

+Steve Stertz...The drums were the first instrument Layne ever played. So yeah, he was good. Didn't know if you knew so just sharing. Been following Alice in Chains from the 1st time I heard "Man in the Box", etc. 1989. I've been influenced by my parents who loved Heart in the 1970's.....so many others so I like a lot of music but AIC I fell in love with very quickly. Been a Alice in Chains fan ever since 1989......

I was 15 and a half when this show happened. I didn't see it but I have followed Pearl Jam since Alive was released and I read about it in various magazines. I still have my copy of Alive in the 12" poster bag release that was in a local record store bargain bin, a bargain bin!! I took it home and played it non stop and I found, like so many others, music that I could relate to. I eventually got the stick figure cover tattooed on my arm. The 90's were a great time for music.

amazing upload - thank you! Who would have thought back then that the opening band would go on to become one of the greatest bands in music history. And of course I have love for AIC. Was nice seeing Layne more active on stage than in his later years. RIP

I’ve got a cool story about Eddie Vedder. First I worked for an insurance company back in the day in the special lines field and remember actually speaking to Eddie about his boat policy! He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. ILL NEVER FORGET IT! RIP CHRIS CORNELL. The Seattle scene in the early 1990’s is unsurpassed by anything going on today!
