Pearl Jam Fans...FEELIN' YOU!!! Alright here we go, tonight we're diving back into the MTV Unplugged show. this time around we'll be checking out a track from Pearl Jam entitled "Jeremy" Full disclosure, yes I have heard the song before....of course I've heard the song before....I dunno how ANYONE could NOT have heard this song before. I actively TRIED to avoid Pearl Jam, and I could not escape this song. Having said that I've never heard this version from Unplugged...so that's why I'm reacting to it. You KNOW how I feel about acoustic shows....not sure how this is gonna go. Only one way to find out...
Come on in, enjoy the show...I'll see you inside.

Dave, in my humble opinion, there is no better unplugged set. There are a couple as good (Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Eric Clapton). Eddie slapped everyone who watched across the face and let them know there was a new sheriff in town. I'm almost 61 and I still get energy from EV and the boys.

Anytime I see a reactor react to the 'Jeremy' video, I always ask them to check this version out. Eddie's emotions are in the spotlight, as are his insane voice. He sings and/or vocalizes for 5 minutes straight, and his voice sounds amazing, clear and emotive perfect the whole time.

Can't have energy unplugged. Eddie: Hold my beer Porch Unplugged has energy at 11. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otJ_o6hpmsjRh2Q.html The album Ten had not so great production. Every song on Ten is better live.

Not the biggest fan of unplugged either, but I do enjoy PJ on it primarily because it showcases Ed’s vocals. I think they would do even better now, due to having a lot of their songs being more compatible to this type of show. I’ll have to watch the show in it’s entirety again, I can’t remember if the band would discuss the song prior to playing it. I want to say it was VH1s Storytellers where bands did that, and PJs was awesome there, but very hard to find.

Great reaction and review. Jeremy's not one of my favorites but his vocals for this whole set sell every song. Really looking forward to when you (surely...hopefully) eventually do "State of Love and Trust" from this Unplugged set.

Good review! This whole Unplugged was a tour de force for Eddie. However, there are other songs where Mike McCready lets loose on that acoustic. And they all go crazy on "Porch". "State of Love and Trust" from this show is another superior vocal performance. It's a creepy song and Eddie gets the point across. Let me know if no one has sent you that link yet. Thanks again~

I'm enjoying this conversation about your scoring. First, as I've said before taste is subjective and you should rate things however you want. People should just chill. Where I think there might be a disconnect that is fueling the gripes from some of your viewers is that some art is genius but not someone's taste. I analogized to Pavorati in a comment in one of your recent posts. As another example, the Mona Lisa is not my artistic style, but if someone asked me to rate it and I said it got an 7.5 and explained that a 7.5 was actually pretty good, serious art critics would say I am a nut. Perhaps the solution is 2 scores. Mona Lisa gets a quality score of 10, but to my personal taste it might only get a 2. Right now you seem to be giving exclusively personal taste scores (not that there is a problem with that.) Now, Jeremy. Jeremy is a brilliant song. But it's also been played on the radio a gazillion times. It's one of the few PJ songs that has overplayed it's welcome for me. I still enjoy it every once and while. But it ranks lower on my personal enjoyment scale than other PJ songs because I have heard it so damn often.

Your breakdowns ROCK. Watching your PJ reactions over time (this video isn't recent, but you know what I mean) is interesting in part because it's obvious that you have connected more and more with PJ and and Eddie have to offer. Kudos!

Love your reactions (and I agree with you about Eddie's voice... he sounds so good live. It is SO rare for someone to sound this incredible unplugged. Eddie is very rare - I like his live performances better than the studio versions. I can't think of anyone else I feel that way about!)

I'm one of those who can say that they hadn't heard this song until recently. Part and parcel of being born in the late 90s and not listening to radio 😅😂. This was such an amazing set. This, Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots did phenomenal unplugged sets. I have yet to do the Nirvana one but I've heard it's good too. Still working on starting my dive into their discovery 😂.

Why do you think there was no HighDef in the 90s? Ofcource what aired and was released on VHS was not HD. But when filmed and not transferred to VHS there was definitely HD. Otherwise you would not have HD movies older than 20 years and that is definitely not the case.

Actually all film not digital recorded is in HD . Chemical film has more data than digital because it didn't have compression loss. You can take any film from 1950-1998 and make them 4k resolution in 1080p when you use Neural Network enhancement.

Ley me start by saying I think Unplugged was the best idea MTV ever had. Acoustic performances really help to bring the vocal to the forefront. And they also test bands, separating the contenders from the pretenders. The first time I heard Black Unplugged, it knocked my socks off. In that performance, they took a song I used to merely tap my foot to, and turned it into one of my all time favorites. ( Is a four-way tie for first right now.🙂) In Jeremy, while I think it came out really, really good, I thought it might have benefitted from more backing vocals toward the end. That would have helped increase the energy level even further. I wonder why they opted against that? Still, good performance. Eddie Vedder remains one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time.

I know a lot of other "reactors" out there are gonna say they "love" everything they watch, whether they actually do or not, just so they get thousands of subscribers. I prefer to be 100% honest.
