This is the best machine I've seen for this kind of grain cleaning. Fantastic. Would be great to see more detailed photos of various parts of it. I understand it takes time to put plans together, but just additional photos of how it's put together would be much appreciated. Building this is outside of my skillset currently, but seeing what you've done inspires me to stretch.

Very well thought out and executed. Looking around your shop, I recognize many of the tools. You are a metal worker and probably a blacksmith. I am a professional blacksmith and it is always nice to see excellence. Thank you for sharing. :)

Wow...fantastic! Not many have your knowledge, skills and engineer mind to create something like that. Wish I could just order one from you. Really practical for the small scale grower. We want to grow our own wheat, rye, oats and rice. This machine would be perfect for us!

I love your de-hulling machine! I am needing to build one for my own grain project and this is the best I have seen by far on a small scale. Great work! I am half way through building a similar scale threshing machine which I hope will work as nicely as your de-huller, Cheers!

There are those of us who can come up with concepts and build them, and those of us who can't. What I'd like to see is availability of plans so those of us who are conceptually handicapped can build one for ourself.

Hey jeffrey excellent machine! I would suggest you get a patent for it, it seems fairly easy to assemble which makes it a good candidate to sell to businesses specializing in farm equipment. I can't imagine many other machines costing less to fabricate which puts yours easily at the top of the competition.

well how about that! I love this contraption you've built. I have recently purchased a small plot of land in which I am planning and growing into a small but sustainable farm for my tiny family, including my Fly Girls (the chickens), with hopes of cutting down the cost of mega spending at the supermarket and mega centers. This machine here will help with the grains I grow...or a concept idea of something much similar. Thank you so much for the share and the brilliant ideas formed to real life attainable products. Simply genius and beautiful! Thanks again and God bless!

I'm curious what kind of machine can be used to 'polish' the grains (ie brown rice becomes white rice). This video goes into great detail of a mechanism to de-husk and screen the grain from the hulls & shafts. I wish there was another like this but for polishing.

Copied this from another video. Galen Lehman 3 years ago (edited) UPDATE: 1) In the video, we recommend gluing Grainger part number 1XWZ7, which is 1/6" rubber, to both burrs on the grinding surface. Further testing has shown that using 1XWZ7 on the handle side (stationary) burr and 1XWZ9, which is 1/8" thick rubber, on the moving burr is most effective.2) Food grade versions of the sheets listed above are available. However, we did not purchase or test those versions. If you test this setup with the food grade versions of the rubber pads, please post a comment and let us know how it worked. It looks like you should choose either 1MXC8 or 1TVK8 for the 1/16" sheet and either 1TVK5 or 1MXD3 for the 1/8" sheet. (I'm not sure what the difference is.)The grain mill is available from www.lehmans.com. Search for item number 1079030 or try this link: www.lehmans.com/product/economical-corn-mill
