I watch your reviews to get an idea of where these companies are going. Showing real world usage is very helpful. I had a 2015 B&H Evo Cross with a torque sensor (also 36V 250W electrical system 😂). But it was geared properly, and was a joy to ride. It broke, and I had moved far away from the dealer, so it went away. I ask myself, if cars came with speed limiters set to 55, or even 75, would anybody buy one. Of course not. It is up to the rider to operate responsibly.

I just ordered the 2.0. I like some of the improvements over the original version. I'm a little concerned about the top speed and power dropouts though, for my purposes, I don't imagine I'll be hitting top speed too often. Given that the 2.0 is a relatively new model, do you think that Engwe might issue an update, or that some clever person might figure out a way, to customise the motor behaviour? I assume that the logic is somehow programmed into the controller as changing the settings within the display seems to have no effect.

idk about these torque sensors that limit the power and slow you down (unless you are pedaling like an olympian). Plus the torque sensor in the bottom bracket is a big PITA to replace, I cant even find those torque bb for fat bike size on Ali express. The torque sensor usually has a wire coming out of the bottom bracket shell, that you can easily sheer off if you try to remove the torque sensor and unscrew the bottom bracket off incorrectly. I see brand new bikes coming out, like the ECElls Five star, and they are already making videos about how to replace your torque sensor when you accidentally sheer the wire off. bceause its very common mistake. Hopefully ebike power delivery will start to evolve a bit faster, these chinese bafang systems get updated at a snails pace.

I've been studying range on these bikes for the past week watching countless reviews, it seems like there's a direct correlation to amp hours and mileage. Real world tests with hills, inclines, wind, start stop, if the battery says it's 16 amp hours, in pedal assist three and above you'll probably get around 16 miles safely. If the bike has four bars, and you did 4.5 miles and lost one bar. The math pretty much adds up again. Since this is a 52v version add 8% more so 16 miles with a nice 1 mile safety buffer on both sides of the trip will give you 18 miles.

I lost 1 battery bar to 9 miles on this trip but im sure it was close to losing another one soon. But in general a 48v 20ah bike that does 28mph. You can get 20miles full throttle if your probably 150-180lbs. Sure more range can be done if u ride slower. More downhill. Weigh less, smooth roads. Bikes that make u pedal like this one I could see a good 25miles riding as fast as u can because throttle only reaches 20mph. U have to pedal for anymore than that.

Tell you what buddy, I have 2 bikes and I have LED’s on them and they are bright, but these idiots in cars for some reason don’t see me sometimes because of riding to the right of the roadway I guess. So what I do now and I could care less if it’s illegal or not but I have a small light on strobe now like the top of school buses. We will see how that turns out over time. I have been riding my Ebike to work and 2 times I was almost killed because they say “Oh sorry I didn’t see you” just like what happens on motorcycles. I think it’s a 1 light thing, maybe all e-bikes, bicycles and motorcycles should have a strobing or fast flashing light on the front

If they're going to force the rider to pedal to get to full speed, for God sakes, put a cadence sensor on this piece of trash. And a better gearing cassette on the rear. My Ariel Rider Kepler can throttle to 34-35mph, but because of the gears they use, I can still put input into the pedals. These companies use the absolute worst rear cassette possible. Even with 8 speeds, they're useless on most ebikes.

It's a huge scam in my opinion if you have to pedal to get a max speed. Like selling a car that doesn't over 65 unless you drive it down a very high hill 😂

2:41 , 28mph is about 45kph, that specific number is the hard limit for ebikes in most of europe, as in if they go faster they're basically considered motorcycles and you need to plate them up for them to be legal, so engwe has to sell them capped by default (no more assist past 45kph), so the explanation is simply that it was manufactured with the European market in mind

Which is fine to limit us to 28mph. But they are cutting the bikes power to 0 watts output for 2-3 seconds before the power comes back on. I'd rode tons of bikes that lower your wattage so you can hold a solid 28mph without dropping.

I just saw this video of Brian 636 and he had this Big fat tire bike that goes 60 mi an hour it is so sick and it cost $6,000 dollars that's a little bit high for me but I know in time these bikes will go down in price hopefully

If it's repairs on these ebikes. Normally bicycle shops will do basic bike work. But not controllers, batteries or motor stuff. Just flats, tires, grips, Handlebars etc...

just keep your version 1 and put a sinewave controller in it. smoother and more powerful and will be a damn sight more reliable than the cheap ass box of crap they put in the frame. I have an engine x fitted with new axle bolts, 2 batteries, plastic fenders, bmx bars and an extra wide saddle and a 203mm front rotor and a 56t chainring. I also fitted a power analyser that showed about 900+watts at peak and pulling 19amps despite it being certified as a '250 w' ebike.and did you know they didn't put any axle bushings in the frame so over time you'll end up with a loose back end! the mate x has better suspension.

Why don't you just enter the advanced settings menu on the display, and change all the settings you don't like? You can remove the 20mph throttle limit, and change the 28mph pedal limit. Lots of videos on KZfaq show you how to make the changes and customise the parameters to your preferences.

You need a controller that's plug n play with the battery and rear motor. Might need a new display as well and throttle. Unless u plan to rewire and cut things

That bike is not worth paying the money for and if I got one free I would give it away I'm very happy with my aerial Rider grizzly dual motor dual battery it's the only way to go it has plenty of power to climb hills to
