No they can’t because the skills required are not taught anymore; I went back to art college in the hope of being taught how to paint and quickly realised that no-one had those skills. It was all about research and developing one’s own style - it doesn’t work I’m afraid; we need a foundation from the masters who can use paint. It’s like going to music college and being expected to teach yourself ! I’m now qualified in art as a critic and understand much about painting but still feel frustrated that the essential basics of HOW to use paint were overlooked. Talent is obviously needed but tuition is sadly lacking in art colleges today.

Watching this makes me emotional that I so want to go back in time to see him paint. He should be one among the greatest, the most revered of all ages.

These are just a few artist painters able to make his works miraculously realistic,in depts ,colour,almost smell the still waters ,hear the knirping snow..need I say more? Love it! Thanks again,for sharing it, ...

Never heard of him. Instantly my favourite painter after 1 minute of the video, such detail, perfection of everything, light, shadows, perspective, simplicity yet detailed. Fantastic! Sorry Constable, you’ve gone down to 2nd

Excellent work, just excellent. I fully intend to choose one of his works and make a copy of it You compare this man's work and talent to the so called 'artists" that they rave about in New York or London and they don't know what the hell they're talking about ! I like Singer Sargent's work, but this is even better I've just finished a big painting of Sargent's Oystercatchers" and it's superb And I've nearly finished a busy scene on the banks of the Mississippi about 100 years ago - Huge amount of detail - Two paddle steamers moored alongside the river bank, being loaded with general cargo - cotton bales, boxes, sacks, barrels, lots of carts and wagons, with many porters, and four horses, two mules, and a tiny dog. It's taken me a month and I've still got the rigging to finish But it will look stunning in the gold frame I've earmarked for it Kind regards - Chris in Thailand - WWW.100Temptations.com

Toto byli Mistři Štětce.Člověku se chce zamyslet,jestli náhodou již v tu dobu neměli 4objektivový mobil a nefotili to s ním.Snad jen 4K Foto dokáže takto ostrý obraz vytvořit.Zajímavé je,že nikde není vidět jediný tah štětce.Nemám ,co bych k tomu dodal více. Neuvěřitelné a Úchvatné.

It's a damned shame that people will rave over Monet or even Rembrandt, but if you mention Monsted, well good luck with that.

Because you don't know the evolution of art. That is the real shame. Realism is fine, but the skills of duplication are valued less than the innovations. You have to realize that most painters in the old days recorded some events or took snap shots. Though they were beautiful, they became obsolete once photography process was invented. It is your right to appreciate what you prefer. We should remember that we like what we know, and not the other way around; we know what we like! I am an artist, been one for close to 40 years. I started admiring the old art, yet I kept my mind open to learn more. There is still room for Realism, and I also enjoy a nicely done landscape.
