Only if you have the stamina for it, fighting style wears you out quick.

just a 2 minute round of shadowboxing in this style is exhausting enough though. But of course you can work to utilize it at best possible potential, currently learning it myself lol.

This peekaboo style is very passive. According to Mike Tyson, the peekaboo is very aggressive, always advancing without retreat.

Hey guys what's the reasoning for the first drill? The jumping and turning. Is the turn just to warm up the legs / hips and work balance?
@ttownboxing2 жыл бұрын
It is to warm up the legs and hips but also to drill a move called the “Twist”. I did a video on the subject, it is a big part of peekaboo footwork.
@GodsLonelyMan__ Жыл бұрын
so basically, peekaboo is all about being light on your feet. Also, it needs fast weight switches. The drill teaches balance and speed.

This fighter looks too lanky to utilize this technique efficiently. He is not compact enough to make this work.
@Sujiceel3 жыл бұрын
Floyd Patterson was 6ft. Being "compact" to use it is nothing more but a myth by people who never learned or bothered to understand it (looking at you Expertboxing).

Work your legs Because you're not performing well the D'Amato shift due to your weak leg muscles Squats a lot of squats and isometric stances you will be much better I hope you don't get my comment wrong because I really appreciate boxing and your work But maybe i see something u don't i try to help not to be an asshole 🤣

One thing people don’t understand is that the peekaboo style is not just Mike Tyson, he was just the most effective at the style. It is style a style that is very effective, Jose Torres was a light heavyweight champion and Floyd Patterson was a 2 time heavyweight champion using the peekaboo style. It is not just Mike Tyson’s style it was around long before him.
@travryger92873 жыл бұрын
@@ttownboxing true, it’s the style cus taught. what makes this style so good is offense and defense blends together seamlessly. Especially with more of a square stance like Tyson had. Floyd Paterson was one of my favorites with the peekaboo. And that leaping left hook of his was super nasty!
@ttownboxing3 жыл бұрын
@@travryger9287 I agree, to me Cus is the greatest trainer who ever lived. Building two heavyweight champions from scratch along with a light heavyweight champion. Doing things differently and creating a style that hasn’t been seen before or since. Not to mention the way he fought against the mafia in boxing and made huge strides for the sport.
@seetsamolapo56003 жыл бұрын
@@ttownboxing Mike was just so explosive using the style. Winning at age 20 and also the recency effect are what makes him so popular without other people knowing about those other greats
@ttownboxing3 жыл бұрын
@@seetsamolapo5600 you’re absolutely right people associate it as Mike Tyson’s style. Nobody fighting any style has that kind of explosiveness. The principle’s of the peekaboo are still something that can help any boxer.
