Saw a hack for the bottom connector that struggles to reach. I have this problem with regular chains. Put down a small 2x4 piece of wood and drive up on these blocks lifting the tire 2 inches. Gives clearance to allow the chains to slip further under the tire. Doesn’t take but a sec to put down these blocks and drive up on them. Good video

Thanks! I've been watching a ton of videos to try to find the best chains for my minivan. I am a young grandma, and I need to be able to put them on myself! Most of the videos are by younger or very strong-looking men and don't give much perspective on what a first-time use might look like. This was super helpful, much appreciated.

Good video! I like how you show them being put on in the snow. Recently a small foldable shovel helped me remove enough snow from the bottom of the tire to give me enough slack to connect up my chains.

As soon as you showed putting them on In The Snow I had to Like and Subscribe. It's a totally different animal when compared to a heated garage demonstration that too many others make. No manufacturer is going to show it at night in the on the side of the road.

Why would they? The point of the manufacturer video is to show you on camera. With poor lighting on the side of a highway you wouldn't be able to see the video very well.

Very good video. I will be using chains for the first time in my life as I return to CA from Reno on I80. I will practice several times. I appreciated seeing what are probably some common problems and how you solved them. Chain install on I80 is $30 on, $20 off. I just paid for half the cost of the chains.

Very good video. Only thing I might add is more emphasis on positioning the chains before trying to hook to tensioning unit, remembering you want the chains front and back to line up chains symetrically with your tires and rims. Very similar to my own experience.

If you mess with how to route the chain at home, you can get both sides to have the lever facing out. I forget how to do it, because I traded the SUV that used them in and chucked them in the trash since the new SUV uses a much larger tire.

Check your owners manual. It will tell you what tires you can put them on.

Got to make sure there are no kinks in the chain. That is why you struggled. That chain tends to get a kink when pushed around the backside of the tire. The best is to start all over...from experience.

I believe it’s important to know you shouldn’t go over 30-35mph with the chains on.

That is correct. The beauty of these chains is they continue to tighten. Regular chains start to loosen the fast your go because of the elastic bands.
