November 22nd, 2021, will forever be a dark day for PEI Potato Farming families. The cause? Federal Government Officials, at the suggestion of the CFIA, suspended all shipments of PEI Potatoes to the United States.
With millions invested and nowhere for their crop to go, the potato industry was facing catastrophic economic impacts of this decision.
The PEI Potato Board needed to make some noise, and Potato Farmers needed to be heard - that’s where we came in. We developed and launched the #isupportpeipotatoes campaign.
Over the following months, we became an extension of the PEI Potato Board. We provided extensive communications support in media training, pitches and releases.
We developed messaging and collateral for both OOH and digital initiatives. We produced video content that shared the voice, opinion, and strife of PEI Potato Farmers, debunked myths associated with the issue, and rallied supporters north and south of the border to show their support.
While the fallout of this issue is still being felt, our efforts resulted in support from many political leaders and MPs from across the country and rallied not only an Island but a nation to come together and stand with PEI Potato Farmers.
