Charles Sanders Peirce wrote a series of five articles in philosophical journal The Monist to articulate his metaphysics over two years, from 1891-3. His metaphysics is systematic, governed by two key principles, chance (which he calls tyhcism) and continuity (which he terms synechism). It is a process metaphysics where broad development is an evolution of growth as opposed to mechanical cause-and-effect.
Over the last few weeks, I have gone over each of his papers to try to draw out his main ideas. While there is a thread that links the articles, the series is best understood as a whole. I think we can benefit from a summing-up, drawing the key ideas out more clearly and showing how they link with one another.
