The reason Rushia still fall there is because both her and the slime are boing boing. And as Newton said, two objects that are both charged boing boingly will repel each other, or something like that.

You can see how innovative Pekora is willing to go just to ensure other members don't accidentally die from her projects. She covered the top surface with glass so people wouldn't accidentally fall and just for extra precaution, literally created a safety engineering for a trap.

if i was in pekora's position i would have put down at least two rows of slime blocks to protect any ru-chans that slipped into my trap, and probably more signs, and a fence. it's like having kids, you basically have to bubble wrap them cause otherwise they'll find some way to knock themselves out with their own knee
