Marine is the woman that could barely dance, then trained her ass off and did the whole Treasure Box choreography. When she puts her mind on it, she improves a lot and does really well, and that's not something to be a dick about, that's something awesome, not everyone can get considerably better just because they worked hard. All the props to her, captain is down bad, but still awesome. Edit: and like Pekora said, she trained so hard that she should be banned? What kind of stupid logic is that?

@@Shiftarus Besides, participation awards weren't even particularly valued by the kids; the parents were the insecure ones who needed their kids to win something. It's funny how eager people are to blame the generation who had the participation awards forced on them (which, if I had to guess, I'm pretty sure that's Marine's generation anyway), when if anything they should be looking at the generation who created the awards in the first place. But yeah, I guess the way you put it got the point across just as well, lol. Dang avocado toast, crashing the diamond industry or whatever it is this week. 😅

I feel bad for Senchou, she just wants to play with her friends and have fun. I mean, I kinda got bummed out myself at the end where my oshi, Suisei, lost to Marine, but I still acknowledged it as Senchou's insanely good skill in Puyo that gave her the win (and partly because I think Puyo vs Tetris is a TINY bit unbalanced with the distribution of Garbage blocks). Still, it's alright with me; my oshi did her best, Senchou did her best, everyone had fun, that's all that matters, right? Imagine how hurtful it was for Senchou to have practiced for SO HARD and for SO LONG to git gud at the game, only to get flamed because she "Overpracticed" and beat other people's oshis. She did her best to make everyone cheer for her but what does she got instead?

@@lootmaster1337 I don't really know all the details or anything, but isn't tetris having a strong advantage only a thing at the extreme high end of skill, while puyo puyo tends to have an advantage below that level? Something about the slower speed of puyo puyo meaning it is impossible to beat a tetris player above a certain skill level. Regardless, I certainly don't know enough to directly compare Suisei and Marine's skill levels from that last match, especially since Suisei apparently had controller problems and input delay.
@Healbot2000
@Healbot2000 Жыл бұрын
@@Swarmlord2 Yes, Tetris have the advantage at the highest levels while its the opposite with Puyo. The reason is due to trash distribution and overall playstyle at each tier. Tetris players at low/mid tier plays slowly and usually won't T-Spin or use combos strats, so they don't disrupt Puyo players enough and so get overwhelmed by Puyo's combos. At the highest tier, Tetris players plays fast enough to constantly send trash over to Puyo and overwhelm them before they can clear them.

Suisei was also playing super weirdly against Marine tbh In practice she was doing her usual sending one line rensa’s over and over which was an amazing way to deal with Puyo players, but for some reason for the exhibition match she was doing Tetris’ only or thereabouts, it was a way slower way of playing that allowed Marine to have a pretty easy time setting up and steamrolling her. Hell, they even joked about her character constantly saying her attacking lines before they begun, referencing when Suisei would send line over line in 10+ chains and decimate opponents, it was weird to see her do exactly not that in the actual battle.

I just hope Senchou doesn't let the hate get to her because even though she jokes about it and doesn't want anyone to worry. She's still human and quite emotionally fragile. That said if you've watched the exhibition match she can go decently well against Sui-chan which is absolutely something that can't be faked.

well it was a tournament and based on what Pekora was saying and from the little clips i saw, many members had different skill levels at different games. So yes of course we could not know how good some of them really are until they all compete in the tournament. If you wanna exclude people for being too good, you gotta find out the base skill first. Now we know. I'm not a fan, or even follow her outside of her being a guest star in some clips i see from other members, but hearing about Marine being skilled like that makes me a little bit happy.

i had a feeling this might happen just by what some people were insinuating in chat right after it finished, i hoped i would be wrong though. my personal opinion is that tournament’s are held to show off the talents of everyone involved, it’s the individuals decision to play or not. to me i wouldn’t have had a problem if Suisei or even an ex pro wanted to play in the tournament if one exists in Hololive. this tournament was just for fun, why not let everyone show off their true potential. i thought the same thing when they almost didn’t let Selen play in that big Apex stream that was also this past weekend. i get needing to keep teams balanced but because of that almost excluding someone for being too talented who is actually part of this community seemed very silly to me. i’m glad Selen got to play even though the tournament didn’t go great for her on game day. it was one of her dreams after all! just as i’m glad Marine was able to show off her Puyo Puyo skills and i’d be perfectly fine if she did it again next time if she wants to.

Yeah, of anything, any no-class closed tournament of any games is bound to have skill imbalance. Nobody said anything about hololive mario kart or pokemon tourney skill imbalance before. Just my guess, but probably this is because marine beat suisei tetris on puyo. Which is absolutely stupid since suisei herself is way too pro on tetris, not even on the same level of any other members.

Marine is good because she put in the work. People just don't like to see their picks lose I guess. There always seems to be drama after each big event Hololive does, and most of the time it's to either the winner or the person who made the event happen. PS. Just like Pekora said, it's not a majority of people that hate on Marine or Pekora for putting her in. It's like a VERY small % of people that shout the loudest to let their voice be heard the most. Luckily Pekora knows this because just like Minecraft sports festival and Mario Kart tournament, I hope they will continue something like this even with those annoying select few.

My opinion on this is to just let everyone participate, not only will that ease the pressure for beginners as more people will turn up, it will boost the motivation for the top players and also gives the super competitive members a solid goal to reach for the top, instead of booting out a dominant player. And organize a tournament every 2 or 3 months to keep their skills sharp and consistent. But Hololive is not just about competitive tetupuyo, they have other much larger responsibilities so too bad for the people who are too invested on this specific tournament.

I noticed a lot of people in the comments not understanding why she is hated. The reason isn't because she put in a lot of effort and became good. The problem is that she was already a really strong player, enough to wipe everyone else even without praticing. That's the difference in skill level she has against the rest. Yes, she did pratice and improve even further, but that made her from wiping everyone except Suisei to even winning against Suisei. The general mindset is if Suisei can't particiate as she would wipe everyone out, why can Marine participate. Hence the reason why people are hating on Marine or the hosts. I don't support hating on anyone but I understand their frustrations.

Practice does really go a long way. For example, Suisei went from an amateur in Apex too someone equivalent to diamond rank via a month of constant practice. Honestly speaking, Marine would have stood no chance against Sui if she didn’t work her ass off to close the skill gap. It’s not that she was “smurfing” or was “too good”, she just got better and it really showed in this tournament. The same can be applied to the Mario kart tournament. Sui, Aqua, Marine, Gura, etc… aren’t just naturally good at the game, *they actually practiced to get that good.*
