Penang's FAMOUS FOOD Was Worth the Wait (Nasi Kandar) 🇲🇾

When you say Penang people say Nasi Kandar. It's the most famous dish in Penang and of course I had to try it. As I saw many long queues for Nasi Kandar restaurants in the old town I decided to travel a bit further to NASI KANDAR KAMPUNG MELAYU maps.app.goo.gl/eE2ntiBnmMeoS... , but of course with almost 4000 google reviews I should have known that going there on a Sunday around lunch time wouldn't be a good idea. I queued up for about 30 minutes to eventually get the food and it was actually worth the wait, so delicious!
Because I couldn't get enough of all the queueing I decided to join another queue and this time it was a dessert called Ais Kachang Penang Road Famous Chendol - Ais Kachang maps.app.goo.gl/PRy9vvFApzLtu...

This video shows that delicious food does not necessarily have to go to a five-star restaurant. Often, delicious food on the streets can be unforgettable! This episode taught me how to describe people in line, that is QQQQQQ, haha! Tim is so funny! That dessert looks so beautifully colored and feels delicious! It seems like vendors can make a lot of money selling that dessert! I'm curious what that green ball is? I really hope some locals can tell us all the ingredients in it! Hi !! Tim, I , Malaysian myself, I love nasi kandar from Penang, but I seldom had the original nasi kandar..., Tim, u should go to the East Coast States, Terengganu and Kelantan, like Trengganu, it has lovely islands....and gud food........enjoy...LEGENDDDD.....lol SO CUTE

I am dying to have a plate of that nasi kandar right now after watching your video. Penang is my home town but I have relocated to another state since 1982. Somehow nasi kandar from anywhere else is just not the same.

Word kacang is referring to red bean. Originally ice kacang is just shaved ice, red bean, milk and syrup. Modern version like you eat may have grass jelly, several type of syrup, attap chee (the fruit thing), sweet corn, evaporated milk and more. Many place have their own version. Some more expensive version may have ice cream, durian, chocolate syrup. Ice Kacang also known as ABC ("Air Batu Campur" which translate into mixed ice).

You can bring ice kacang go inside the shop just behind the stall and enjoy together variety local foods. Last I was there the stall informed me I think he is also the shop owner.

Melaka is about 400km away from Penang. That dude is craaazy. He might not be the only one, we might have a 'mat salleh' flew thousands miles for the nasi kandar after this...😜

If you want some adventures, you can go to Teluk Bahang National Park or Penang Hill (touristy but you will get to see amazing view from the highest peak in Penang).

Tim, happy to see you enjoying nasi kandar. You would get a fantastic view if you visit the 65th floor of Komtar. Botanical Garden and Penang Hill are also popular. Why did you miss breakfast? Plenty of coffee shops here in Penang. Do try the various noodles with local coffee. Have you tried char koay teow yet? Cheers!

You could visit Cecil Street Market for lunch. Its where locals eat. Char Koay Teow which is super fragrant fried flat noodles, is a must-try. The Duck Meat Koay Teow soup may look simple but it may surprise you with its silky flat noodles and hearty soup. Komtar is just a stone's throw away so if you like adventure, go to The Top and try zip lining from the 68th floor, if you are up for a challenge. Or hike up Penang Hill. Can't wait to see your next experience. How long are you in Penang for?

I like Nasi Kandar restaurants like that, where they actually write down the price of your meal. I've been to Nasi kandar restaurants where they tell you to eat first. Then, when it's time to pay, they expect you to tell them what you've eaten, so they can charge you accordingly, hate that system it's a real nuisance!

1:56 - Melaka ( the accent sounds Me-la-ke, like the Malay guy say ). The colonists used to spell it with the "Malacca" There have been many overseas KZfaqrs who have recorded videos in Melaka. Funny if you have never heard the name of the state of Malacca ( Melaka )😅

If comes to lembah klang, do visit Shah Alam, bangi, Petaling Jaya n so on. Mostly foods industry there is for sure the locals especially the malays. Those KL kg baru, chow kit, those foods provider mostly not Malaysians. Careful going to eating at the illegal seller, think about cleanliness behind, they not even took the typhoid jab likes the locals do to food industry. Thats why they can sell very cheap. Just to let you know, since many tourists came only react to klcc and kg baru the oldest Kampung but actually there's more good oldest Kampung out there in lembah klang
