So I have found another way to make the product more durable and can be applied to most flat stone shapes, especially angled cabochons (square, diamond, rectangular. ..)
The length and size of the wire to use depends on the size of the stone you want to make.
For common stone sizes 1-2cm x 1.5-3cm can use a wire with a diameter of 0.6 - 0.8mm (22 gauge - 20 gauge) and a length of 6 -10cm.
Winding wire should use a wire with a diameter of 0.3mm ( 28 gauge) for easy manipulation, depending on the number of wraps, the length of the wire is 20-40cm.
Use tape to fix the wire to the stone, making it easier to handle.
Use sewing needles to wire is easier to pass through
With drop stone, the pointy end is easy to slip, so wrap wire around the sharp end to avoid falling stone
In the video I use :
20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) : 8cm( 3 inch)
28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 40cm( 16 inch)
The rectangular cabochon is 1,2 x 1,7cm
*** Don't be discouraged if you don't succeed the first time, with the new template, I have to try many times before it succeeds, even if it's a simple one.
