Seeing Thorfinn's development from a crude, vengence-filled kid to a peaceful, patient man was truly amazing.

The most beautiful thing about the season was how the author defined courage. That shit hit deep. I also like the emphasis on the little things, which is very in theme since Thorfinn also gets to learn to appreciate those in this season.

When Askeladd asked Thorfinn "How will you live long after I'm gone?" As he was dying that genuinely changed me.

I did really like the duality of Canute and Thorfinn this season too. They're perfect foils for each other.

Arnheid's story is one of the most tragic and heartwrenching story and it sets up thorfinn's development and motivations perfectly

Vinland Saga as a whole is just a masterpiece. The themes and overall message of the story is just awesome. The character development is PEAK. There’s a reason Berserk, Vinland Saga, and Vagabond are highly appreciated.

Vinland Saga season 2 is the best piece of media that I’ve consumed this year. This show absolutely blew me away with its storytelling, it’s music and the message behind it. This story actually encouraged me in a way that few pieces of media ever have. This story makes you want to be a better person. As a Vinland Saga Manga reader, I knew a lot of people were going to be turned off by season 2 and its drastic change of pace. Which is unfortunate, because the story that unfolds is very beautiful. Makoto Yukimura is a very insightful individual, and his art is quite amazing. I'm glad that he's able to share it with the rest of us.

Season 2 was what made this my favourite anime. This isn't an anime for 13 - 15 year olds. This has to be advertised to an older demographic, anime audience are mostly into shonen and aren't matured enough to appreciate and enjoy this masterpiece

I have never liked a show so much that I picked up reading it. I was surprised at how the story changes the next arc(after season 1), but it made me really think deeply about my own life, and how I want to live. Season 3 is going to bring GREAT things for the show too. I cannot wait to see more of this story animated.

Jeez thank you for making this. Vinland Saga is like no anime I've seen. The scene where Snake was reading the Bible passage about loving your enemies to old master was an absolute masterpiece because it was such a stark contrast to the lives they were living at the time. So much thought has been put into every crevice of this show and it's paid off. I cried so many times throughout the second season. It's easily at the top of my list, and it might even become my favorite anime.

Season 2 made my jaw drop... The portrayal of going from a hollow man to a man with a purpose in life was so incredibly done with perfect pacing too. It truly is the best season of vinland yet for me.

Episode 9, “Oath,” is one of the few times an anime series has brought tears to my eyes. Genuinely brilliant and emotionally satisfying storytelling.

Vinland saga is an insanely amazing anime. It is the best show ever of any medium. Honestly it has completely changed my outlook on life and Thorfinn is an inspiration like no other. I cried like crazy a couple of times because Thorfinn is such a good and strong person.

Season 1 is just a prologue, just a prologue

I hurts me to hear that season 2 was underrated, its so beautiful. I knew people fell off season 2 but i didnt know it was this underrated, Thorfinn's saga of coming to terms with his feelings and learning his dads message is so fucking well done i loved every second of it.

The Farmland arc moved me in a way no other anime/manga did, the development Thorfinn made him one of my favourite characters in the series.Without going into spoilers I'll just say Thorfinn inspired me to be a much better person even halfway through S2 he already became a hero to me and someone I want to be just like even more so by the end of it, and the words "We have no enemies, no one has enemies" will ring through my head forever.

Never seen the show before but the way he talks about protagonist development reminds me a lot of the development Guts has throughout Berserk and anything that well crafted is something to always appreciate.

Vinland saga and monster are the most important thing for humanity

I gave Season 2 a break because of the change of pace, saw a video called “You don’t understand Vinland saga”, finished Season 2 and am in tears. It’s a MASTERPIECE. Just finished season 2. I’m so glad that someone else understands how magnificent this story is. The transition from this blood thirsty child to this reborn person is some of the best story telling ever.

I remember reading all this and still being captivated by the story of a man who lost his purpose and his reason to exist and live long enough to gain a new reason to live. I couldn't do that, I know I'm not strong enough to do that, but I want to.

It wasn't a risk, they took the source martial and turned it into a beautiful animation. Vinland saga is one of the best written manga out there. Reading it I knew a lot of people would drop off after season one. Though those who stay are in for an amazing tale.

After watching season 2, my view of anime changed. I don't think any other anime can make me appreciate it's content as much as that one season. It brought me to tears each episode between ep 9 and 23. The emotional impact of this season is something I won't forget. Season 2 also made going back and watching season 1 more impactful.

Seeing Thorfinn sort of transform from a revengeful and crude kid to this calm and peaceful man is something I just loved about this anime, truly one of my favorite animes of all time

I just finished season 2 and seeing Thorfinn finally be happy, return home, and reinvent himself all brought a smile to my face.

The manga is so great as well, the tone change is absolutely insane and the way the story is told is amazing. They went from nuts to buts action into a more philosophical perspective. Also amazing art.

I remember reading the farm arc after season one just ended, and I couldn't believe the character development and depth of Thorfinn, and all the intense situations him and Einar went through. Charlie is right when he said other anime dont explore character depth on this level, because ive yet to see it replicated.

The way that the mangaka made the reader/viewer feel bad for enjoying watching a child soldier slaughter people is the definition of genius.

I know the anime is far behind the manga, but I cried when I read chapter 191. One of the best moments in the entire story, I can’t wait for it to be animated.

Vinland saga s2 is so good because it flips your perspective on s1 so much, and it really drives home it's message by first idolizing the classic viking rampage before forcing you to stare at the devestation that creates. Thorfinns new ideology is so interesting because an entire season was dedicating to setting up his past. Thors had the same ideology, but compared to Thorfinn you kinda brush him off in the first episode as being naive in not killing when threatened, it's when Thorfinns realizes he was right that you do aswell. And having any show flip your perspective in that way is worth gold. I also honestly don't know why people find s2 boring. Yeah there's not a lot of action, but a lot of shit is happening, and if you genuely liked s1 you should see that

This anime played a part in my mental health as crazy as that sounds. I was going through a bad time and started thinking as everybody being against me. Stopped trusting people and just felt everyone was just bad. Started turning into a bit of an ass even. Vinland Saga actually played a part in getting me out of that mindset. It's crazy the lesson it actually teaches you.

This season is perfect for people actually working on themselves, aspiring to become better

I think the change in thorfinn, from being raised as "The son of Askeladd" back to being "The son of Thors" is what makes this season great. I think the main reason it got the hate that it did was because the first season attracted the shounen audience, thinking this was a shounen series, when in all actuality its a seinen. And if you don't want to sit through the complex character arcs of everyone on the farm, I can understand, but as an adult series, it kinda expects you to have a good attention span.

Vinland saga has changed my life permanently. I want to become a better person and let go of regrets and grudges like Thorfinn has. It is an absolute 10/10 show and i recommend everyone who hasn't watched it to watch it.

I devoured the first season and I knew about the change of pace, but I was so surprised by how much tension they were able to build in the story despite that slower tempo. The episodes from beginning to end feature some of the best character writing I have ever seen, the conclusion was simply brilliant and it was the first thing on my to do list every Monday evening for its entire runtime. Masterclass in writing and an absolute masterpiece overall.

So after watching this video, i decided to give vinland saga a shot. Season 1 plot about revenge wasn’t necessarily the first time ive seen about it. But throughout season 1, we saw depth behind the characters were going through with the raids and the politics. For season 2, it did a full 180. From some kid who is filled with anger and rage to kill the man he’s been essentially living with and killing for to then become someone who lost themselves as a person who wants redemption from his sins and becomes a pacifist, it was one of the most emotional journies i have witnessed. I binged season 2 in about 2 days and i cried in total of 10 times. Thorfinn is different compared to the other characters we have seen in naruto, one piece, bleach, dbz, AOT, etc. The anime is definitely up there to be one of the best written stories. I believe this is a great recommendation for people who love philosophical animes where it requires critical thinking and compassion. Thank you charlie for speaking about this anime ❤

The fact that this "BORING" anime is my #1 anime of all time and no anime can replace it

So many moments in season 2 that literally make you reevaluate what it means to be a man, to be a "true warrior". They managed to stretch out one characters morality struggles throughout a single season and didn't make it dry or repetitive. The 100 punches scene will be engrained in my brain for the rest of my life

The moment when Thorfin said to Canute that he'll run in order to avoid war with him was one of the most profound moments I've seen in any work of fiction. I almost wonder if there was anyone in history who had a similar story to Thorfinn. (Sorry if you haven't watched it)

I was so hooked on season 2, and I couldn't just wait for episodes to be dropped every week. So I started reading the manga. It was my first manga experience. I've never even read a comic book in my life.

It's not easy to tell a good story about pacifism, one that actually gets into the nitty gritty of philosophy. It's even harder to do it when set around violent viking history and not lose focus So I have a lot of respect to Makoto Yukimura for pulling it off, he's a great author and artist

I was an avid supporter of Vinland Saga from the start and I am glad to hear its getting more recognition, especially after so many people cried about season 2 being "boring". Which is a shame, because its one of the best the industry has to offer.

Just finished Vinland season 2. I actually can’t believe the retards saying it’s bad. It is absolutely amazing. I waited for all of the episodes to come out so I could binge them. If you watch season 1 and then season 2 right after it is the most airtight narrative I’ve ever witnessed. This is one of the most impressive anime I’ve ever seen. I can feel that people aren’t even taking in the deep message this show flawlessly presents. All they care about is “Omg when is thorfinn gonna get angry and look badass again, this season is boring! dropped!” At this point in the story,Thorfinn grows up. He’s outgrown his animosity towards the world. This is a classic case of audience immaturity. Classic weebs doing what they do best. Sitting on their ass living their lives through a character, and when that character actually matures they cannot no longer emulate them due to the maturity they lack themselves.

I think the farmland saga arc was a flop because you definitely required a certain degree of emotional maturity to truly be captivated by the fantastic character development of Thorfinn and company. Action is supposed to be fast-paced and interesting, but S2 was able to make every episode feel like 5 minutes with barely any action. It's a testament to how well written it is.

Season one and two of Vinland saga gives me the same reaction of aot when it transitioned from 3 to 4. It goes from balls to the walls action, to character driven development and primarily more internal conflict. It's harsh contrasts between seasons within a show that really show how great the story really is.

It’s a beautiful story. I’ve watched interviews of the author, and the way he talks about this work is wonderful. It’s a story about love and you feel the love and care that went into crafting it. It’s the only anime that I wait with bated breath to hear news on future releases. I’m tempted to give it a 10/10. I can’t praise it enough.

I never expected him to say Vinland Saga, I've been reading it for years now so I feel like its sufficiently hyped in my head. Its always had its crown as one of the big classic seinen manga. I'm really happy anime viewers are starting to see why, I love how the mangaka is getting all this fresh love for his work. He seems so excited to interact with an international audience too

We also have to talk about Einar, another character that hits one Thorfinn's life, a brother that doesn't share the same blood type, or any connection... How Einar was the first one to forgive the one that killed his family, how he was able to manage the fury and help Thorfinn to be a better person.

For me, the Farmland Arc in S2 is one of the best arcs in anime/manga, although I can understand why people dropped it after S1. I remember reading it in the manga a few years and being blown away by it and the anime was the same. The fact that it's 'only' sold 7 million copies is criminal given some of the garbage out there that sells 10x as much.

Vinland Saga will end up in my top 3. It touches aspects of my existence I didn't think could be accurately captured and portrayed, least by an anime. This show shocked me, for good reason, and I'm glad you made this video because it does deserve more recognition.

I also think that Einar is a great character and he was introduced perfectly to season 2

mainstream anime fans go mad when their paperback 1D character actually shows "character" and "growth" without 5 minutes of fanservice, 86 powerups and random flashy conflicts that originally could've been solved through communication 🚶🏻‍♂️

Don't forget, the songs they've chosen for the openings from season 1 and 2 from Survive Said the Prophet, are so good. Some of my favorite openings, and the band itself has become a new favorite of mine to listen to.

It is a genuine masterpiece. It can not be overstated how perfect season 2 of Vinland Saga is, truly hope that more people will give it's second season a chance.
