Used to have a toy walkie talkie shaped like a ninja turtle as a kid; it would randomly connect to baby monitors if you held it a certain way, so I'd be playing one second, listening to crying babies the next... The old lady in the ring doorbell footage likely had a form of Dementia, which is both sad and terrifying. With both Dementia and Alzheimer's, a phenomenon known as 'sundowning' can occur where the afflicted elderly becomes more confused, and potentially aggressive during the late afternoon and night.

As an experienced hacker, I can confirm that getting into ring cameras (and all cameras for that matter) are incredibly easy to get in to if you don’t change your password. The factory set password that the camera company’s give you is called a hash. A hash is what you usually see when you get a password for a website (the ones that look like this-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and have a set amount of numbers, letters, and symbols they can use. I have coded (in the past when I cared about hacking) a “hash detector” which essentially attempts every single possible hash on the website. Just wanted to say that’s how I got famous in middle school

naw man, that old lady....my mum said that when my grandma was going through dementia, she woke up one night with my grandma standing next to her bed holding a knife, and she didn't know where she was or who she was, or who my mum was. It's actually really really sad. That lady probably is all alone. My mum had to take my grandma to a senior citizens home after that, because she was worried something worse would happen. Losing your mind is no joke. It's not a horror story. It's what happens to millions of aging people all over the world every day.

2:50 This actually happened to my dad earlier this year- got a call that I had hit someones car and it was now a kidnapping thing and he wasnt allowed to call anyone or else they'd kill me and to wire them money. Only reason he knew it wasnt real was because I happened to call him at the right moment and he misunderstood them saying "dont pick it up" to "pick it up". Scammers like those are disgusting.
@airraverstaz2 жыл бұрын
I just hang up the instant something sounds fishy. I'm surprised your dad stayed on the phone past the first couple of sentences. It’s definitely more scary than any paranormal video, because they feel real, even if some of the stories might not be (though I think most of them probably did actually happen). Those kind of scenarios could very well happen to any of us, and that’s what makes it all the more terrifying.

As a person who worked tech support for 7 years... here's the answer as to HOW: Most ISP modems/routers have a lot of ports blocked. Many modems have firmwares that don't allow many of these ports to be forwarded. The only answer for a lot of people is to enable the DMZ and have security cameras configured to it. Which means no firewall, no security. Completely open traffic sniffable by anybody who knows your IP address. Doesn't even have to be local on the same network. Just need an IP address. Edit: I can't stress enough that Charlie is extremely wrong at the end. Ring doorbells are extreme security risks, even if you don't have to DMZ it. Their security is garbage. They broadcast unencrypted on 2.4 Ghz... extremely easy for local breaches. Spend the extra bucks and drill a couple holes, get an ethernet-cam system. You can still watch it remotely, but at least then it's properly secured by your network. Edit 2: I know Mr. Nightmare is mostly or all fake. But the sites where you could watch cams absolutely did exist, and direct breaches happen every day.

I know Im late, but I just gotta say, Mr.Nightmare is sick. Been watching him for years now, and I mean years. Back when Corpse was making horror story videos. Respect that man a lot. Glad someone pointed Charlie to him. Man deserves the minor shout out. Edit: I'm sure Charlie knows by now, but Mr.Nightmare tells stories he receives from viewers or I believe Reddit. He also use to tell his own as bonuses. He has told paranormal stories or ones where the people were skeptics/ believed.

My favorite horror story channel is literally just named "Horror Stories" he uploads videos about horrific and freak incidents, murders, kidnappings, etc, and he includes either actual (often uncensored) footage or images. what's scary about it are the images though, just the thought of what will happen moments later creeps me tf out. either its a photo of moments before, or a photo of a victim smiling, or a photo of the victim and its killer together in one photo. i binged watched it a years ago and i couldnt sleep properly. sadly tho, bc of his content, he often gets demonitized and shit and he doesnt upload often.

The fact that IP cams can be hacked like that is exactly why I’d never have one pointed into a bedroom, bathroom, or hallway where you might be naked… Who knows how many creeps might be watching but never expose themselves. And if you want a video baby monitor, I know old-school ones were just short-range video transmitters, no server or anything - later ones were digital and encrypted, so you couldn’t really hack into it easily, and it wasn’t possible to hack them without being in the area of the transmitter. If they don’t sell those anymore, and you’re a maker, you can definitely make your own.
