Thank you for the instructions Dennis. My hard washer below the main gear was broken and the drags were fused. I got the reel back in service today with some parts from Mystic. My daughter and I will be catching rock cod Sunday for her birthday!

Fascinating analysis of the weaknesses in this reel. I enjoy watching you do a service on these conventional reels but freely admit I don’t know very much about conventional reels. I’m supposed to finally get the Ocean City 300 that I found way before Christmas. I knew when I bought it there would be a delay in getting the reel shipped. By the way you’re pushing the envelope on the use of 1 paper towel. I’ve been working on a Mitchell 386 that I told you about. I can’t solve the problem with it. It is not a bent axle shaft, bearing or gearing. The problem starts when you attach the rotor to the reel. I might be sending you this one. I’m baffled. Just bought a Shimano MLZ 40 new in the box. yes you can use tiburon or acc. frame the only diff is the take apart screw. try to find one with a broken take apart screw hole you don,t need it anyway and youll pay less.i made two a501s and a 501 half s..

Hey Dennis thank you very much for the informative video. I was wondering if you could help me find parts for my Okuma reels. I have two Okuma reels that I absolutely love. I’ve had them for about 15 years. One is the Okuma Epixor EF40 and then I also have an Okuma Epixor EF50. Trying to locate gears and bearings for them but I cannot find them anywhere. I went to one of Okuma parts dealer and purchase three gears and he only sent me one that was correct. Do you have a good resource where I can buy Okuma parts? Thanks a bunch. - Jim.
