Penn's upgrade of the drag from the Slammer III put this reel on top. Thank you for the review. For $280, this is a great reel that will last a lifetime.

I think most of these companies should really just refine the drags instead of recruiting ridiculous amount of drag. Like find ways to cool the drag washers under heavy load. Very few anglers will use more than 20lbs of drag which is already an insane amount. They should just focus on making the drag smooth and very cool even after fighting a fish for 30 minutes.

Dx is a better reel since it has a couple of additional improvements like stainless steel gears and an extra bearing. But some like the gold color compared to the DX silver and black. Both amazing reels though

The residual Drag is 2lb. The first good fish I hooked from the surf snapped me off because of the very stiff jerky drag. Dont buy the drag is a big no no
