The Nittany Lions traveled to Ann Arbor to take down the Wolverines at the Big House in a prototypical physical Big Ten match up. Lots of field goals and a couple of touchdowns accounted for the scoring in the first half. But the story of the day was the five Michigan turnovers in the second half and the special teams troubles which gave Penn State too many chances not to falter in this game.
Penn State's Top Performers:
Kim Herring: 10 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 pass break-up
Curtis Enis: 21 carries, 114 yards, 1 TD
Joe Jurevicius: 6 catches, 62 yards
Penn State nabbed its 9th victory of the year with only one game remaining in the regular season. With the loss, Michigan moved onto a 7-3 record and would lose to Alabama in the Outback Bowl as an 8-4 team in 1996.
