This was a great game but it put the biggest flaw of 2009 era Penn State on full display. Penn State was a great team but couldn't put good teams away (except for Northwestern). Penn State absolutely dominated LSU all game long but could never quite put them away. Similarly, they couldn't put Iowa away despite dominating for 50+ minutes and paid dearly for it. Also, couldn't put Ohio State away despite holding them to 118 yards of offense. Special teams was this team's Achilles Heel. Still, this team showed more heart in the Citrus Bowl than they did in any other game against a good team all year. Penn State's awesome comeback win was a great way to end the season on a high note.

Their real issue was they didn't have any truly elite talents (especially on offense). A bunch of solid to very good players but nobody who could make enough plays against the best of the best.
