Where to start?
This is the first video I make after the final episode. I won't talk about it here (there's too much to say about it..), but I just say that I cried A LOT, like never before, and I still cry when I think about it. I didn't expect it, AT ALL! I'm going to miss this show so much. A big part of me is gone with it, Penny Dreadful meant (and still means) so much to me!
I read that some people didn't like this 3rd season... I, instead, I liked it. Especially the 3x04 episode, which was one of the best episodes EVER, if not the best. I've lost the count of how many times I watched it. It's just perfection! Eva Green and Rory Kinnear are SO talented - and I'll never stop saying it. They create magic together!
I've always wanted to make a video about Vanessa and John, since 2x02 ep - when they first met. Their friendship/relationship was one of the best things of this show! And now I've finally made it!
I didn't make this video because I ship them as a couple, but just as a beautiful friendship and/or in a platonic way. I think that their special bond can't be labeled. They are too special to be just "lovers". If you know what I mean...
Btw, I'd like to dedicate this video to "Fleurdelys2525"! I know she is (like me) a big fan of Caliban and, especially, Rory Kinnear! So I hope you like it! :D

Late to the party on this, I realize. It's 2023, and I'm just discovering this exquisite series for the first time. I agree with you all here, that the relationship between John/Caliban/The Creature and Vanessa Ives was the true heart of the story for me. The series, in it's entirety, is absolutely remarkable, with some stellar performances and the best writing I've ever encountered on television... but every time these two characters met on screen it became something absolutely transcendent, soul shuddering, beautiful. Thank you, laurakenji, for putting this lovely tribute together for us.

God I love these two. I never really "shipped" them either but what they had was so beautiful. Like you said, impossible to label. It was so wonderfully written, so heart wrenching and well-developed in only a few episodes. I truly truly believe that Rory and Eva are two of the greatest talents of our time, and they said more with their eyes in 3x04 than what other actors can say to one another with words over a series of episodes. Seriously. I miss them and Penny Dreadful so much.

Wow ... I really love this! And a dedication to me!!! So not worthy. They do have some sort of on screen magic together. I've said in the past that Vanessa's relationship with Caliban/John Clare was the healthiest one she had ... and indeed the healthiest one between any of the characters on the entire series.

They're the actual best couple. I know Ethan and Vanessa were a doomed kind of canon couple, but John and Vanessa have this deep and long-running cord between them that has nothing to do with prophecy or indeed the supernatural. It is a bond that is utterly _natural_ - and that's what's so beautiful. Without ever witnessing the other's capability for viciousness, they still recognize the likeness in each other without it being foundational to their relationship. They have such capacity for tenderness when it comes to the other, that if they were more involved in each other's lives, to guard and be there for each other, they might've lived happier lives. And of course, kudos to Rory Kinnear and Eva Green, who can wring every ounce of emotion out of a viewer by putting their very souls in their eyes.

I watch this at least one time a day, it makes me feel better and also keep alive in my mind this beautiful show that unfortunately is ended. Those two are by far my favourite characters of my favourite show. Thank you Laurakenji for your amazing montage, you perfectly caught the intense connection and friendship between the two. This was beautiful, you did a fantastic job, l miss this show so much , TV shows come and go and you move on , but l'm finding it hard to move on as are so many fans , Rory is just so special, l'm so glad people around the world got to see what a handsome, beautiful actor he truly is.

I got a twist imagine if John became embroiled with jealousy towards Dr Sweet and he went to threaten/kill him only to draw out his true nature revealing who he is to Vanessa. Then he along with the gang work together to defend Ms Ives from Dracula(Amun Ra) and his minions.

I don't know who you are, Laurakenji, but I hate you, I hate so fucking much. It's been a while since I finished Penny Dreadful and I still know how much I cried at the end. Whenever I cry with movies or tv shows, I just go on with it until it ends while my tears run down my face, but when I saw the end of Penny Dreadful, I had to stop EVERYTHING so I could cry during 20 minutes and then go on until the credits. I just opened you video to watch something cute and it was needed just 10 seconds to start crying as much as I did that day when Penny Dreadful ended. I do hate you, Laura, I do hate you. But thank you for uploauding this.

Ma tu sei pazza a dire certe cose, non scherziamo ;w; Non posso negare che leggere certe cose mi riempie di gioia/soddisfazione/orgoglio, ma d'altra parte sono anche ben conscia di non essere affatto la migliore editor xD Mi sento troppo lusingata ed onorata, soprattutto detto da te!!! Btw, recentemente sto usando molto gli Sleeping at Last nei video, questo è il secondo video consecutivo in cui utilizzo una loro canzone e, nonostante non siano proprio il mio genere preferito, devo dire che sono davvero bravi, molto poetici e delicati come hai detto tu e credo che le loro canzoni siano perfette per farci video :D E dato che era da una vita che volevo fare un video su loro due, trovare questa canzone è stata una manna dal cielo! Sono contenta che il video ti piaccia, è stato difficile anche per me facendolo rivivere certe scene ;___; Non so più come dirti grazie, davvero, i tuoi commenti sono sempre too precious (e anche troppo gentili xD)

From Pakistan Vanessa should have chosen Caliban, He can even kill Dracula. The things he have done for her when he was alive and she was is her worse state, always in control even seek her body rather her soul, and even when she was in er perfect state and he was in worse ( a monster ) yet she rejected him. You take your loves one with you even in pain , if they are ready to come, this is God biggest gift. She rejected it and paid the price. Think if she had Caliban on her side 24/7 dracula would be pissing himself. All women make such mistakes and lives in misery, they reject the one who help and care for them and seek others. From east to west its all same.
