Alot of players in the league wore that sneaker it was endorsed by Charles but not his signature sneaker Mike wore Penny's sneaker the Flight 1 made specifically for Penny it's a huge difference.

It was Mj’s way of saying I’ll beat you at your own game (because back then they had a slogan in Jordan commercials saying “is it the shoes..?) but (even though he wouldn’t admit it back then) he also low-key admired pennys game because this is the first player before Kobe that really gave him work and had a similar playstyle but more skilled in certain areas like ball handling and passing.
